How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Speak for yourself! I have a themed pirate EDH deck that does pretty good at the table. Is it cEDH? Well no, but show me a tribal deck (not elves or Wizards and maybe even Dragons) that IS!
For those interested I haven't had the opportunity to list it in the forums, perhaps I will at some point just to hotlink it in my sig.
Edit: (Something relevant about the card so as to not be completely off topic.) That said as real estate is really tight in said Themed Pirate EDH, this unfortunately wont make the cut.

So the red/black limited theme is... steal and sac, again? *shrug* maybe there are some decent common/uncommon token makers or sac fodder in these colors too. This feels very been there, done that.
Pirates are neat I guess, but the choice to have one or more in this core set is a bit odd since it is so far from overlapping with Ixalan. I would think they'd be going more for relevant creature types from sets that are due to rotate out soon.

Core 2020: Ogre Siegebreaker - probably the most different of the BR signpost uncommons here (if it's even meant to be a signpost)
War of the Spark: Mayhem Devil - WAR has two other BR uncommons themed around Angrath and still space for sacrifice mattering
Ravnica Allegiance: Fireblade Artist - RNA obviously has other BR uncommons and the theme of spectacle, but the sacrifice theme is still represented for limited
Core 2019: Brawl-Bash Ogre - very similar to the Warbringer
Clearly BR plays differently in most of these sets - Eldraine has the Knight theme, RNA has a bunch of Rakdos stuff, etc - but there is definitely a common theme they rely on for BR in Limited. Discard, "if a player lost life this turn", punishment, caring about being blocked, etc. I wonder if there's a reason they don't like to mix it up?

A few reasons:
Some themes just play very well generally and are desirable to repeat, other themes might be a little more niche in their appeal
If the colour pairs all have some standard themes it's easier to map out the right diversity of different strategies and playstyles. Switching up one might require changes to others balance it out (e.g. too much aggro, too many +1/+1 counter archetypes).
Having common fallbacks for limited pairs makes it easier to focus development time and player attention on the unique set themes
Consistent limited archetypes make it easier for newer players to approach new sets if there are familiar strategies to work with

Thats exactly why it doesn’t need Pirates to get the boost. It’s much better that you don’t need them to fully use this.

Actually it's been bothering me for some time that the same color pairs revisit the same archetypes over and over again. I think a set would really stand out as having unique design if they went out of their way to interpret the color pairs into nontraditional archetypes. In particular, using a setting with a heavy emphasis on color pairs as an alternative to Ravnica. I know there's been some talk around here about wanting to see a more controllish Boros, for example. And I'd personally like to see a variant on WB that focused more on disruption and permission-style of play.
The biggest reason to do something like this is the variety. It's important to shake things up once in awhile when your sets start to get a little stale. It's also less taxing on design space when you're pushing color pairings in a direction that they don't go as frequently, less design space is required in this case to come up with cards that feel fresh. Of course, the danger lies in being overly cautious and not printing anything appealing enough to break people out of familiar archetypes, leading to a weak set.

Graveyard matters has been a theme for a lot of sets (SoI, Amonkeht, Ravnica, Theros) so I think that plays a factor since sacrifice does help fill up graveyards. Outside of sac and steal I think the only other generic limit theme it has really is aggro but RW tends to need that more.
