As for the card maybe in some kind of sacrifice deck this has some legs, I mean returning something and providing 2 more bodies to sacrifice is a lot of fuel in theory. Probably too slow in reality though.

This isn't in any way a version of Eternal Witness any more than Cancel is a version of Counterspell.
Anyway, nice card. Has some good interactions because of the token making. Not sure what the standard meta is, but I can see some combos in the making in EDH.
Hmmm... I keep imagining a rakdos or golgari sacrifice deck with Cat-Oven and Malefic Scythe, building up counters and attacking with a sudden Gingerbrute. An instant speed spell that can return pieces of the puzzle while creating more sacrifice fodder might be nice.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
Oh cool, it's Morbid! I like this card a lot, actually. I have several EDH decks that will love the utility strapped to free creature resources. It's rare that you won't be able to cast it and get Saprolings, and at worst it's a fairly respectable recover from a board wipe.

StaffImagine someone casts Shatter the Sky in historic because its their only answer to Carnage Tyrant. Their EoT, you cast Fungal Rebirth, get back Carnage Tyrant, and get two more creatures to send into the red. I like it. It's another pseudo-Caller of the Claw for a single creature.
