Prowess, eh? Has there been an indication that they've changed their mind on it before now? I thought the mechanic wasn't doing what they wanted and increased complexity too much?
Salvager of Secrets was actually pretty good recurring removal and looping with black effects and blue bounce spells.
This is just better, but uncommon (so you wont have 2+ unless you are really lucky).
So funny enough that will probably make it less relevant in Limited and just barely if at all playable in constructed (as you need some really valuable targets to get back, like a Time Warp to loop with recurring this card with Thasa each turn).
meh, we already have salvager of secrets so this is just another one at uncommon. its not bad, its not great, it feels uninspired, but it also doesn't feel like trash either. its acceptably dull which is fine in a core set.

Don't know but the idea of anything "increasing complexity" at this point is kind of laughable, with what we've seen in Ikoria, protection, and, y'know, phasing returning.

The prowess issue wasn't complexity (though it was more complex than most evergreen mechanics) but it would eat up space away from the set. For example it fought with space for landfall in BtZ since they both wanted similar effects. While in Kaladesh it worked well with the artifact theme, having something get +1/+1 for an artifact helps set up the sets theme more so than +1/+1 for each non-creature spell.
I personal would keep prowess as deciduous (same level as hybrid, vehicles ect) to hole fill when prowess can work.

I hope this means prowess becomes deciduous now, even if the last Storm scale rating had it at a 4. I’ve come around on this creature keyword ability, even if this had the weaker flavor of the rest of the evergreen keywords.

With multiple prowess cards appearing in M21, does this mean prowess is being considered for a return, or for deciduous status perhaps, or is a this a once-shot?
Welcome back prowess
hey maybe Monastery Mentor will be reprinted
strickly better Salvager of Secrets
great card and feeds its prowess ability. I hope Prowess is here to stay.

Looks like there's a few leaves left on that tree after all. And, yes, now I'm hoping for a Monastery Mentor reprint.
the face on the art... that could've been better.
They apparently no longer force the core set to only have evergreen mechanics, what you can see on Teferi with phasing.
I assume it is still a 4 on the storm scale.
