Just posting this as a reminder: sometimes, when we get bogged down in heated argument about how abused we are as consumers and players, it helps to step back and consider just how good we have it that a card game is the worst of our problems. Stay safe, MTGS posters.
All lives matter, but not all lives are treated equally, sadly. That much should be abundantly clear at this particular point in time, and there’s nothing racist about making a deliberate effort to reverse the inequities that people of color suffer on a daily basis. To postulate otherwise belies a serious - and, perhaps, deliberate - misunderstanding of what actually constitutes racism.
People have accused WotC of “virtue signaling” (a deplorable piece of imagined rhetoric if I’ve ever heard one) in the not too distant past. Now they’re actually giving money, just as those very same people have suggested they should. Isn’t that cause for some modicum of optimism, if not celebration?
All lives can't matter until Black lives matter. Please lock or move this thread out of the Rumor Mill.
The message is important, even if the subject is prone to abuse from bad faith actors. For this reason I already asked the mods to lock my thread, but as the Rumor Mill has become the de facto news forum I don’t see any reason why it should be deleted or moved; it’s certainly no less newsworthy than the thread about CFB shutting down live events.
I agree completely that locking this thread is the only thing that needs to happen. The first post links to relevant information, and belongs in the Rumor Mill. Any further discussion here is likely to be unproductive and off topic. This is an important conversation that needs to be had elsewhere.
So I clicked on the link and saw stuff about the charities but not about the thread title. Is the title just misleading or irrelevant?
The streaming, I think, is mostly limited to DnD. I got this information second hand through another news site, but as I don’t actually participate in social media any more tracking down the official announcements was somewhat difficult for me. Apologies if it was confusing or misleading.
Saying All Lives Matter to address current issues is a thinly veiled way of trying to quash the BLM movement. If your house is on fire and you say "Houses on fire matter" and your neighbor who's house is NOT on fire says "All houses matter" that is obviously wrong. It wasn't a white, asian, or any other race person who was poorly treated by the police this week (actually 3+ times this week), it was a black person. So it is important to highlight that.
To relate it to magic, White sucks lately. So when players complain about white needing higher power cards, why does nobody say "All colors matter!" and tell people to who are complaining about white's power level to STFU? Because it would be absurd.

They should care for their business, but they just keep doing the same crap over and over gain.
So if at all, #AllLivesMatter , anything else is plain racist.
