I don’t follow this logic. If spoilers start this Friday, these cards would be spoiled when it’s practically too late to get those secret lairs... assuming that they are even spoiled on the first day.
Spoiling that they are in the set and then having the lairs come out would be an excellent promotion. This is practically the opposite.
The logic is that that's your answer as you explained it. the Bolt SL drops on the 4th, the Birds SL drops on the 5th. Spoilers begin on the 4th. So the timing works out.
If bolt and birds are in the set, they'll be spoilerized on the 4th and 5th respectively. If they arent spoilerized then, then it is a fairly safe bet they're not in the set.
Or maybe not so safe, because you can get the superdrop until the 15th. It would certainly match Hazbrodian logic to try to sell something for $30, and if that doesn't work try to sell it again for $170.

You can argue it the other way, too, though: wait for the Super Drop completely finish before so people who need those cards spend the premium mark-up before revealing they'll be in $4 boosters next month. Personally I think that was one of Maro's "tricks" though, as Llanowar Elves, Unsummon and Giant Growth also fit his teaser.

I do agree to keep anticpations low
By the way another example not to get your hopes up counterspell fits too and they would never gift that spell for modern players
• A brand new planeswalker (from a plane we’ve visited)
This could literally be anything... not really helpful.
• A card that lets you draw half of your library.
I am guessing a PW ultimate but it could also be something cheaky like an enchantment with "UU: Exile the top card of your library, if you do draw a card"
• A +1/+1 tribal lord for a creature type that’s never had one. (A creature type with over fifty cards already in print.)
Rogue and Shaman both have a 'lord' that puts +1/+1 counters on but that might work for Mark. My money is on Construct, but there are a few good options.
• A character with a Vanguard card and a legendary creature card gets a second of the latter.
I was thinking Teferi (flip walker), but he doesn't actually have a Vanguard...
There are several good options, but I am going with Sliver Queen for the lulz.
• A card with thirty-one different options.
so something that lets you choose one or more colors... or something with 6 options that you choose two of with one option that can be repeated (choose up to two keywords from this list of 5, this has those keywords and gets +1/+1 for each keyword less than 2 you choose)
• A card that gains all activated abilities of a certain subset of cards in a place it’s never done it before.
• A card that uses a nonevergreen named ability over twenty years old.
Phasing (as in target creature phases out) is a good guess already mentioned... I can get behind that.
• A card with the words “battlefield”, “cast”, “creature”, “converted mana cost”, “end of turn”, “exile”, “graveyard” and “mana cost”.
no current cards meet this criteria, but a cast trigger with a flicker effect would hit most of them...
• An aura inspired from a cycle from Urza’s Sagablock
Gaea's Embrace or Rancor would be the 'obvious' ones but this could also be an aura that grants flying and protection from a color and reference the voice (of grace, of law, of reason, of duty) cycle for example.
• A nonevergreen enchantment subtype returns
Cartouche, Curse, Saga, Shrine...
Obvious answers are Curse or Saga with a reasonable chance of Shrine
So I am going with Shrine
Core 2021 also has a number of fun reprints, including:
• A popular character first introduced in flavor text.
There have been a number of guesses here and I am NOT going to make a full list...
• A French Vanilla mythic rare.
Akroma would hit this and the timeshifted one but doesn't feel 'standard' to me...
(U/B) is :symbu: or :symub: and the same is true for the other 9 hybrid symbols with their two colors in for the last 2 leters of the code. ((2/B) and co are :sym2b:)
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B) T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags

Counterspell isn't really too good for modern. It wins on versatility, but most the decks it's good against there is already a better counterspell in Modern for. The question would be more about printing it into standard, which hasn't happened for pretty much 20 years now, it wouldn't surprise me if it one day happens, but for now it seems unlikely as it doesn't seem the direction they are currently taking with regard to how they wish Magic to be played. A lot of the reasons used against Lightning Bolt are true of Counterspell too, in a format with Counterspell, like all the 3 mana with boon counterspells they print become unplayable basically. WOTC seems to have the opinion they don't want counter magic to be good because they don't think it's fun to play against, and that's probably the main reason I can't see it in Core Set 2021.
The very, very very unlikely-hood that Sliver Queen gets a new card is going to throw lots of problems and conundrums into my very casual Sliver Queen hive deck. Like do I include that version in that deck, or does show she go into other specific sliver Hive decks I have, or does she go into my future sighted sliver hive deck.
probably a card with
gets this if u payed white, this if you payed blue and so on and u have a card that could have 31 different outcomes
that card has 32 outcomes, you can spend all colorless mana and get none of the abilities... the card has to force at least 1 color (or use a different vector)

Could you all be wrong and the character first introduced in flavor text isnt ugin, but leshrac?
He was popular, and first introduced in flavor text, and played a large part in teferi's story during time spiral
Edit: and we dont know which plane he hailed from prior to being trapped on dominaria during the ice age, so he could be retconned to fit the planeswalker hint too
Also remember brand new can mean previously without a card, and not necessarily a completely new character

It's a few leaks is what's pointed toward fate recorded ugin reprint but also ghostfire is what introduced ugin
Edit: ill hold out hope hes the walker teaser at least. Old walkers are long over due for more cards. There are so many and we've gotten relatively few
I would say he is popular as he has been reprinted before. It fits with the Theros enchantment theme, and with the rumor that there will be Shard 3-color cards in the set.
Wow, yeah that's a legally questionable degree of similarity, in my untrained opinion. Having trouble not seeing that art as Teferi's Protection, too, given a few of Maro's teasers point towards it being in the set. Felt A) too powerful and B) too expensive on the secondary marker for a "premier" set, but I've I bunch of Commander decks that need one so won't complain.

While I know that there are a whole bunch of cool and valuable cards with funky protection, I really do think that it’s going to be Horizon Drake
Protection from players and protection from everything exist on several cards but protection from lands only exists in this one place... and it would be an excellent plant before traveling to Zendikar, home of man-lands.
Runed Halo is a bit more spicy as far as cards with unique protections (and is exactly the sort of niche sideboard card that wizards loves shoving in core sets) but my bet is ultimately on the drake.

The options are:
Advisor, Ally, Artificer, Assassin, Avatar, Berserker, Cleric, Construct, Demon, Dragon, Drake, Drone, Druid, Eldrazi, Elephant, Giant, Horror, Hound, Insect, Kor, Lizard, Monk, Mutant, Ogre, Orc, Phoenix, Rat, Rebel, Rogue*, Scout, Shaman*, Shapeshifter, Snake, Spellshaper, Sphinx, Spider, Vedalken, Wall, Wurm

I am guessing Hand.

Baneslayer angel, Furyborn Hellkite, Impervious Greatwurm, Sphinx of the Steel Wind, Vorapede, a rare upshifted or something cute like Realm-Cloaked Giant (the creature part is French Vanilla) or Thundering Chariot (not a creature but French vanilla)
Rancor? ties in with the new aura above...
Baneslayer could hit this and French mythic
Disenchant! (timeshifted)
Something from P3K would be nice (grim Tutor has been tossed around) but my guess is Teferi's Protection.
Heres a few to think about...
Purphoros, god of the forge
seizan, perverter of truth
massacre wurm
Serendib Djinn
there are 54 human monks... I think it reasonable to assume this will be a relatively high profile reprint...
Abbot of Keral Keep, Azusa, lost but seeking, Monastery Mentor, and Serra Ascendant are my short list.
Squire…
Akroma, Angel of Wrath, Disenchant, valor, Flying men, Sengir Autocrat, Dragon Whelp, Gaea's Blessing, Spike Feeder, Thallid, and Lightning Angel are the short list... but my money is on Teferi's Moat.

Some art for Core 2021 from Magic's twitter, Teferi is looking more and more like idris elba
In the reprints, it said obscure protection
Teferi's protection does fit that since it has ”protection from everything”
Who knows maybe it is the premier card but the rumors said that ones gonna be grim tutor
If it is I hope they do the same for cruel tutor
Protection from players and protection from everything exist on several cards but protection from lands only exists in this one place... and it would be an excellent plant before traveling to Zendikar, home of man-lands.

Or is it Predator, Flagship?
Looks like the Weatherlight to me
