One interesting thing about these is how location specific they are. Historically, lands have been named super generic names to allow for reprinting in other planes, any plane could have a Godless Shrine or a lonely sandbar. Names like these are reserved for land that will not be reprinted in other settings. Not sure what that signals but I feel like this will be the wedge plane going forwards.

"Tri-lands" are super specific all the time, as sets rarely support a tri-color theme (and if they do, we get pretty much always some kind of these lands in some form).
Putting cycling on these further reduces the sets to reprint these in (but in Shards of Alara we had a cycling theme too).
Basically this is the reasoning. They didn't give them generic names because they don't expect to do another wedge set with a cycling theme, outside maybe revisits. It's such a specific combination that they likely won't repeat it, so generic names wouldn't serve much purpose.
At first I was: "Man, the Tarkir Wedges are rare because you can cycle them?"
Then I saw they were fetchable tricycles and I was like: "Glad I have all those Rare wildcards stored on Arena!"

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
75% of the monetary value of this set will reside in these cards. Those are the most useful lands I have ever seen--each one is fetchable by 9 out of the 10 fetches and enables 9 out of the 10 checklands. The speculative prices are already about $20 each; I don't normally pre-order cards but I think I will probably make an exception in this case--2 of each for starters, then get a box, then buy the rest individually.
Ok we probably don’t have to wait too long for thr shard triode “tricycle lands”
Pretty much much the next set with cycling likely to have the shard versions
Just for clarity, he did specifically specify "Next Arc set", which means a set with a Shard theme. While that could be the next set with cycling, it's more likely to not be, as they reuse cycling more frequently than they reuse 3 color sets.

Then if alara is a return set after zendikar then it will be a lock
So, I like that regardless of fetchland, these fix your mana turn 1 in commander.
But TAJIC HAD HOPE AND IS NOW DISAPPOINTED.
I really need as second fetchable dual for Tajic, preferable both missing cycles, but a single extra fetchable dual would be a massive improvement to that deck. Duals would see more play and sell more packs and enemy duals make sense in a set where enemy color pairs are twice as common.
On the flip side, if cycling tricolor fetches were going to be an inevitability, the number of sets they could go in thus far is exactly two, potentially three if you go as far back as Apocalypse, so I will grant this existence.
But come oooon, wotc. Really need those lands now.

Mark already confirmed if a shard colored stuff is involved and cycling a thing the shard version of these will be up to mind
They literally could have finished the Bicycle land since it would be the enemy version which would support a wedge theme.
It’s boggling my mind why people complain about WotC taking forever to finish cycles and then when they could but don’t everybody eats it up like its the greatest thing ever.
Im calling it now Zendikar3:the Revendrazi-ing will have a new enemy cycle of lands instead of finishing one off....and people will extol it greatness...then immediately demand the allied versions.

Some good things are mutually exclusive. Better to appreciate the good thing you got than to resent the absence of the equally good thing you didn't get. There'll be a lot more chances to get the bicycles in a near future set than there would be to ever get these.
Please, mill me. Mill my important cards. Mill my lands. Mill it all. Because I will still deal 20 damage before you can mill 45 cards most every time.
I can't even find the words to say how much I want this set. If I wasn't buying a box already this has 100% convinced me to buy a box. this feels like the first time I saw the Ravnica shock lands spoiled, I'm giddy for these things.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

I am too this is like diamond value for edh players
The only sad part we won’t see the shard version till a set that’s has a major/minor shard focus and has cycling here’s hoping for a return to alara sooner than later
Well with these we know we aren't getting fetches reprinted in the next Zendikar set unless we get new ones that say you can only get lands with two or less basic land type.
I will say this, other than the Tricycle lands in foil, the one other thing I’m interested in Ikoria are the +1/+1 punch out counters. I could use about +60 of those.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)

They'll be the same quality as the Amonkhet ones. Good for limited, but won't stand up to repeated use in constructed. That's a shame because I can't imagine how the keyword counters would be usable in paper without a counter with printed text.

I imagine that someone will eventually make a product similar to the Tarmodie or planeswalker loyalty dice, where they'll either make dice or two-sided coins with keywords on each side.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
meh, i love the arts - all versions - but as someone who doesn't really play 3 color in edh, and really doesn't play any other formats - they're okay i guess? i'm certainly not going to jam them in legacy, a casual 60 card deck i'd probably run a couple - i think they're honestly a little over hyped especially with no fetches in standard. are they good enough for modern? maybe pioneer? entering tapped hurts in a lot of builds, some it doesn't matter as much, but sometimes it just decreases momentum enough to not be worth it.
i feel that they're good, but not nearly as good as people around here are making them out to be.

Those are just...wow. Who cares if they ETBT. MUCH better than the clan lands from Khans like Nomad Outpost et al.

I will be a voice of dissent I suppose. All I see is ETB tapped = slow. And a cycling cost of 3 = just as slow to boot.
