tri lands you can fetch seem absurd. in modern you probably want 1-2 because you want your lands to etb untapped most of the time. In pioneer, decks were occasionally running the Khans cycle of tri lands but these are a strict upgrade as they enable castles and check lands
So things that get showcase art:
Mutate (mechanic of set)
Gods and Demigods (theme mechanic of set)
Adventure (mechanic of set)
Planeswalkers (makes sense)
Rare Lands? (Why? Just for lottery cards.....that's why...ugh and I want them)

I am in love. I absolutely love the Bicycle Lands. These now made the Bicycles ugly stepchildren. Begone Fetid Pools! Begone!
Doubtful, but possible they complete the cycle in Zendikar?
Commander legends is the safer bet
I'd say more like some set in 2026. Think of all the land cycles that have been started and not finished. This set was the perfect opportunity for enemy color cycling duals to finish the Amonkhet cycle, and instead they gave us a new unfinished cycle.
That said, these are great. And the showcase art versions are full stop the best land cycle art I have ever seen in my life. The showcase versions will be available in non-foil, right? I need them.
So, two thoughts. First, they're unlikely to finish the cycle until these rotate out, so late next year at the earliest. Having both shard and wedge trilands almost certainly risks the enviroment turning into five color soup again, which is something they really want to be careful about. A return to alara is the most likely spot we'd see the cycle completed, but it's probably not the only place.
Secondly, as to why they didn't do the enemy colored cycling lands... it's something Maro talks about from time to tome, but one of the things they try to be aware of is when stuff is something they can only do here. Enemy Color cyclers is something that they can do in pretty much cycling set. By contrast, these Triomes require a cycling set, with a wedge theme, that wants to have fairly strong fixing. That's a lot more conditions, and likely not something they're going to happen upon again anytime soon. So they'd rather do Triomes now, while they have the opportunity, rather than finish a cycle they can easily finish another time.
