Legendary Creature- Cat Beast
Companion— Each creature card in your starting deck is a Cat, Elemental, Nightmare, Dinosaur, or Beast card.
Vigilance
Each other creature you control that's a Cat, Elemental, Nightmare, Dinosaur, or Beast gets +1/+1 and has vigilance.

On the one hand, Modern Elementals would definitely like a guaranteed lord in every hand. On the other hand, this lord is not an Elemental itself and therefore won't proc Risen Reef, among other things.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
The biggest question might be if you play a deck without any creatures (and just planeswalker and tokens) , is it reasonable to slap this guy in your sideboard ?
You get a free extra card, but its most likely against your plan A.
Nissa turns lands into elementals, so that might be worth considering (but then you dont play any creatures in your green deck, which is weird).
thank god its limited to creatures and not all spells.
still kind of mediocre, woopeedoo its a lord with vigilance
i guess it'll keep elementals relevant in standard and brawl?
Its a lord for the five main monster types so in limited and draft you will likely take it since will likely boosts most of the creatures.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
"Dear Vivien, in what world do you live where predators, when they kill their prey, make sure that that prey's offspring is safe and sound?"
I can't take Vivien seriously. She's either legit insane, which is not communicated/acknowledged in the material, or the writer has no idea how to write a pro-nature character.
If you were playing a cat-tribal deck like Arahbo, Roar of the World you already fulfill the requirement so it being a companion is the most non-brainer move ever.

I'm only making an assumption here, it's based solely on the 'partner' mechanic. It seems as though humans of this plane occasionally take the 'offsprings' and train them to be their partners. So when she's saying "Often leaves them to fend for themselves." I think that's in regard to the before mentioned partnerships.
I'm not saying it's excellent writing, but it seems plausible that she's referencing that.
Surprised we got ourselves a lord like this. It's a fairly good card and will definitely help things like Cats be a bit more of a thing in Pioneer and possibly Modern.
Still waiting on the nightmare lord though (for only nightmares). With so many in this set I'm surprised there isn't one here.
"Each creature card in your starting deck is a Cat..." Do they retain those additional creature types when they're no longer in your deck? I assume that's the intention but what's the rule to support that?

Hunters in this context are poachers. So kind of an important distinction. The issue isn't so much "killing animals is wrong" and more "poaching animals is wrong". One is a subsection of the other but they aren't the same thing.
This design is absolutely infuriating. They've done it the other way for years now and someone decided to print this weaksauce because...cats are a meme? I don't honestly know why they printed this card.
It feels like MaRo lost this templating argument at some point and decided he had to get his idea in to print. He jams in so many vanity cards that serve absolutley no ******* purpose except to him. This game is needlessly complex (in part) becuase of one-off designs like this. Please stop doing it.
I mean..Vigilance? If you're gonna do something like this at least give it a decent payoff. Ugh.

I'm not sure what the issue you have with the card is really. The templating is because it's the five monster tribes of Ikoria, going in WUBRG order. I don't think rearranging the order would make it easier to grok, and I don't think you could do this card in any other way without specifying the specific creatures. "Non-human" doesn't work as a meaningful restriction really.
And a card that is tribal for the five main Ikoria monster groups is certainly something others like, not sure why you'd think otherwise.

Not really. In the quote she refers to leaving the offspring to fend for themselves. This would happen regardless of poaching or hunting, there'd be no difference.
She's judging humans for doing something animals do as well, wile defending the act when an animal would do it.
If she would talk about poaching directly, you would have a point and we wouldn't have this conversation, but she doesn't.
I mean, it's a short blurb and you need to apply context of what a hunter on Ikoria is and why Vivien is upset with them. She doesn't balk at humans defending themselves, she says as such. But she does balk at poachers and in general trying to use nature as a resource in a way not really in line with getting food/protecting yourself. You're reading something in a way that lines up with your own misconceptions of who Vivien is/why she's "evil", so of course you're going to miss the nuance.

The companion rule is a requirement, not an addition. Kaheera doesn't make your cards Cats, they require all your creature cards to be cats (or dinosaurs or beasts or whatever) in order to run them as your companion.

Ah, that's what I was missing. I hadn't read about Companions before. Thanks.

Ikoria tribal, anyone?
Source: ChannelFireball
But yet not one legendary is a tribal legendary? (Heck only one in C20 was tribal and it’s none of these)
Maybe a mythic will be a tribal legend for all of these types

Would indeed be way cooler if its +1/+1 per type, instead of just 1 instance of +1/+1.
That would give changelings a wooping +5/+5 boost, which on its own would be amazing enough to put an entire EDH deck full of them!

My elemental deck rocks on mtg arena.
And sure I can win without risen reef, but it is an entire other game.
