Cycling 1 Lukka's bond provided not only friendship, but also the most powerful weapon in his arsenal.

So unless the relationship between Vivien and Lukka suddenly sours, it won't be Vivien Sundering the Bond of the Ikoria book title, and the two of them on that book cover may in fact be pointing in the same direction instead of Vivien pointing at Lukka like we suspected. Nice.
In the meantime, it's nice to see a "2 creatures fight" card that digs for answers when it's otherwise uncastable.
Since when does red get crappy fight effects instead of direct burn? Yet more Planeswalker love sickens me. Red does not need nerfing thanks.
Red has had fight ever since it became a mechanic. Heck, the one-sided fight green gets a lot of nowadays used to be a red-only thing. Note that red fight tends to have no restrictions on who owns what, so Go for Blood is new in that regard.
Because direct burn give options of hitting walkers, opponents face, whatever. This trash hits only creatures and you need a big guy in play. Yet another sign of wizards protecting their precious mythic walkers aka cash cows
This all seems to predicate on there being no burn spell in the set. We've only had two days of Ikoria previews, not counting all the Commander 2020 things this weekend.
Yes, a one, single, lonely common is a sign that Wizards are evil corporation that wants money. Cool.
By the way, by your logic Vraska's Finisher is the proof that Wizards are a charity group.

All of that seems to be based on the assumption that wizards chose between Lightning Strike or a fight card. Given the larger creatures in this set, I find it a bit more likely that the choice was between a Bombard-type creature burn and this card... and I personally like this card more.
I mean, burn spells that target creatures only are hardly uncommon. So it could easily have just done that instead.
Certainly. But Bombard or the like would have been pretty crappy in a set that's looking to have a non-zero amount of 6/6's and 7/7's in people's decks. With a 'crappy' fight spell, you at least have the option of using your giant dude to fight their giant dude. With direct burn, you're far more likely to be staring down a 6 toughness guy and wishing you had a way to deal with it.

Nice to see a story spotlight on a common. Not the first time, I know (Broken Bond?), but still nice.
