Chainsaw sword are a thing on Ikoria. Dope I guess?
I'm not sure how much room the decks that would want this have for another 5-drop, but the combination of abilities is really strong. I would like it a lot in a Queen Marchesa political style deck, or just in anything with a sacrifice or aristocrats theme. But I would like it so much more if it was like a 1/1 for 2B.
It really puts the pressure on opponents in Teysa Artistocrats builds, and has a relevant creature type for the Human tribal variant I'm expecting. The interesting thing for that build is that most of the creatures with the "Whenever a creature dies, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life" are Vampires and not humans. This at least fills that gap to a degree and is another sac outlet.
This will make some players make more reckless plays to sacrifice utility creatures or draw out their removal to make something die on their turn, which is something. Most savvy players can play around this, though, and I wonder just how often it'll trigger and what the magic number of triggers is that makes it worth it. Three? Four?
I think it's likely useful, but it's also slow and leaves a lot of room for opponents to play around it. But after a board wipe or something, it may hit each opponent for a round or two and that might put you in a very advantageous position. In some games, I could see it dealing 16-24 damage, especially against creature-light or Voltron scenarios where opponents may not have much to die in the first place.
This is a rather interesting card that punishes people for doing nothing on their turn.
While true, the do nothing players also tend to have the most answers to this, i do like how its likely to inspire panic and cause people to make reckless plays though
I think more accurate name would be “Beast Hunter” or “Behemoth Hunter” and flavor text is something like “Whether it’s monster or human, the price is the same.”

That’s a two-handed chainsword, friend; we call those Eviscerators.
