Oh, Simic Flash just got counters 5 - 7. Sure, it's a little pricy but a 5/4 flash is probably good enough without the baked in counter spell and a hard counter for 2 relevant spell types is not nothing. It's a little flavor fail to have a Shark without Islandhome (which I guess is true of all sea life but seems more of a break here) but in this environment, an allowable break.
So it's basically Desertion, except that what you counter is always a 5/4 shark.
This might be pretty decent from standards as it doesn't really care about what your opponent was casting (unlike the more expensive draining whelk) and the chance to timewalk your opponent while effectively throwing down a 5/4 creature with haste is pretty good snapback.
In commander, I guess it depends on what benefits you can really get from casting a big creature (OP already mentioned Animar).
I love that it can counter artifacts. It's a fun reference to the fact that sharks have often been found with objects in their stomach including diving equipment and even pieces of armor.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
(Wasn’t letting me get the image source)
WERE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT!

Actually it’s coming back
Giant Shark is the first card to get the type but it lost shark type
So it’s pygmy allosaurus situation again
Then a shark eats it.
Also this is easily a good blink target.

At least it can attack planeswalkers right after.
Super expensive, but sweet as it is.
Just wonder why this isnt a Mutate card, which that ability , flash mutate is even better than regular mutate.
