So far it looks like "Ikoria: We're out of Ideas, so here's a Placeholder Set!"
Which is understandable every once in a while but it comes hard on the heels of "Theros: We Didn't like our First Ideas, but we Shipped Anyway", which came right after "Ravnica: The Story Diverged from Play Design, but You Knew How It Would End Anyway", the third expansion in the "Ravnica: Why are We Here Again, Oh Yeah, Bolas has been Kicking Around For A Decade And We Kinda Forgot What To Do With Him" blocks.

Instead of some kind of cohesive story you jump around in planes and do random stuff.
Sets should have at least 2 , to flesh the entire theme out more and not skip halve of it.
Theros is the best example of this rush. Instead of all the gods we simply cant put them all in the single set, just 2 titans as we dont have enough room.
And halve the temple lands had to be outsourced too ...
This just feels bad and so rushed, that the sets cant even breath, you already get the next set around the corner.

I'm pumped for this. Standard currently has zero playable creatures over 6 mana. I have lots of deck ideas to cheat in enormous finishers and nothing to play them with atm.

It’s commander is where it’s more exciting we’re looking at colored less broken eldrazi’s coming in commander

You have mentioned both multiple times now. Is there a story connection between both characters? Both have similar names but beside that. I think Mayaels ability doesn't work with Animars but both would kind of work in a creature heavy deck.
I am curious how big the new creatures will be. For Mayael there exists plenty of strong +5 power options. So I am intrigued. A shame that this is another plane without any Angels. The last one was M2020 in July last year.

We will get angels again in a future set probably jumpstart for a new angel legend and core 2021

I agree. A two set model with occasional single sets works better. Eldraine as one set was good. Theros as two sets would have worked better. Zendikar May or may not be better as a single set since there isn’t a substantial story like the Eldrazi arc. Although I would love two sets on Zendikar personally.

Proof? What could possibly constitute proof in this case, other than a video MaRo and Elon Musk both blazed and MaRo saying "Hey man, I'm about to sell them another placeholder set, man!"
I said so far it looks like. And it does to me.
Of course I'm talking out my ass.
But my ass is quite old. It has seen sh** like this before.
(I assume you weren't talking about the ROI bit...because that's just basic and obvious)
First off, King Kong mongers, Gargantuan Gorilla was printed back in 1996.
Second, let us not forget Magic Origins and Theros Beyond Death were one shots that didn’t continue in their following set, thus making them one-shots. And so too Eldraine.
Third, latest Ravnica block had Feather, the new favorite ANGEL Boros commander and War of the Spark had at the very least Parhelion II.
There have been Angels printed in recent sets.
Yes, I get that people are afraid this will be a “Pokémon” set to see people with big creature love, but we all know the majority of it dies to Terror so who cares? It will be the instants and sorceries that make or break drafting this set and it’s impact on standard.
Guys this is just Onslaught and Legions probably mixed with Temurian beef again. We've seen this before. Magic's playerbase is diverse as is their interests.

Ikoria's looking amazing already! just from a few pieces of art! If we dive fully into the craft-your-own-Kaiju aspect, then its gonna be more innovative and with a better background than all non-Eldraine/Amonkhet/Ravnica Planes we've been at recently.

In part. But I also don’t like that it appears to be a plane of essentially Simic creations. I prefer more recognizable creatures. I also can’t stand Viven Reid. Let alone my harsher analysis of sets that follow Theros.
It’s a good thing though. Not every set is for everyone and I’m looking forward to Zendikar and Commander products instead. So it’s not wallet fatigue for me.
Well, Ikoria can't be that bad, considering we just came out of the absolute garbage low-hanging of low-hanging fruit plane: Theros.
We could do with two sets for Ikoria and should have had two for Eldraine since both are actually going to be good sets and not more greek trash.
I don't know why everybody acts so aggressively about a single opinion. Theros may not be your cup of tea and others may not like Ikora.
I feel indifferent about both planes. I was happy for Elspeths return and closing that story arc, thou. I hated that Ajani wasn't involved story wise and in return I didn't liked Calix. The returning mechnics from Theros were fine for me and I liked the sagas.
For Ikora I am interested in the new world, setting and mechanic but I don't like the aesthetic of the creatures (until now at least).
Everyone has other priority and criteria to validate if he likes something or not. I didn't liked Eldraine because it looked childish and white was bad (at least in my opinion).
Third, latest Ravnica block had Feather, the new favorite ANGEL Boros commander and War of the Spark had at the very least Parhelion II.
There have been Angels printed in recent sets.
I was glad that they finally released a Feather card with War of the spark but this doesn't change anything I stated earlier. War was released in May last year. If Ikora has no Angels and we can assume that, then there will be no Angels after the rotation with Core Set 2021. Only the new ones released in that core set. This mean 1 year without any new toys. So yes at this point, every set without an Angel got worse and worse for me :P.
I do find it pretty silly how Angels get treated relative to Dragons, even though Angels are second to Dragons in terms of iconic popularity. I’m not expecting even parity but it feels like they should be a bit closer than they are.
And kind of disappointing to see people jumping so fast to hate a new plane/set. Nothing wrong with having different opinions but making judgments based on less than 1% of available information isn’t good, even if it turns out to be accurate.

Its just noobs jumping to hate planes, most folks like the majority of them except for the terrible seller ones (Kamiwaga, Homeworld etc)
I'm starting to feel as though Wizards of the Coast are running out of ideas as far as original set design goes in MTG. Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths just feels uninspired based on the product illustrations so there's really nothing to be hyped for until we have more information on the set. I would've went back to the main story line by covering the events that took place after Nicol Bolas's defeat in War of the Spark. Is Mirrodin going to end up like Dominaria where we just allow the Phyrexians to take over and never return? What about the possibility of Emrakul escaping from her Moon prison that Tamiyo sealed her in? Was Jhoira's Weatherlight crew ever able to planeswalk again like they did in the past when Sisay was in charge?
There's so many plot holes that need to be covered yet Wizards of the Coast chooses not to do anything with them. War of the Spark was arguably the most original set that they released for MTG in a long time due to how they were able to market Planeswalkers in such a creative way that it was also a boon for weaboos. I'm not really getting too much of a Kaiju vibe from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths when it's just Wizards of the Coast trying too hard to turn MTG into Duel Masters / Kaijudo both of which have failed because they were too preoccupied with MTG before they started working on the MLP and Transformers TCG's. Unless we get something that's equivalent to Shield Blasts or a mechanic where any nonland card can be tapped for mana I wouldn't hold my breath.

Saying there will be no Angels in Core Set 2021 is like saying there will be no Dragons in it either.
There was an article a few years back about how they were going to treat certain creature types to certain rarities for each color. Angels were the big white rare; dragon for the red rare; Krakens/leviathans/octopi and such were blue rare; green or elemental or dinosaur or Whatever passes for a green rarest these days; and black was of course demons.
But What if they made an angel moth type Mothra kaiju creature? Man auto speech does not work when talking about this stuff.

For someone who keeps posting about wizards practices you don't pay a lot of attention to the timetable for return sets huh? You literally list plot threads they just set up and will prolly see in the next few years, wizards like to wait ~5-7 years in-between returns.
Saying wizards is out of idea when we know the base pitch line and a few images for a set is really reaching.

So each color has a characteristic race and an iconic race, with the characteristic being the smaller ones at common/uncommon and the iconic morel likely being are at rare/mythic. Each magic set trys to have a balance of these two with the world only breaking it for flavor and/or mechanical reasons. Sometimes it lines up one race if left up for a few sets such as goblins with Innistrad/Kaldesh/Amonkhet season or in this case 3 worlds with no angels, but they always try to balance things out for these races. They are;
Characteristic/ Iconic
W- Humans (and sometimes kor and cat)/Angels
U-Merfolks/ Sphinx
B- Zombies and Vampires/ Demon
R-Goblins/ Dragons
G- Elves/ Hydras
