Can someone explain to me why it’s black and not any bant colors?

Interestingly: Red is still missing a rare legendary.

I'm guessing it's black because it counts Auras you control on creatures you don't control, mainly the standard black removal Auras.

This helps deal with one of the common arguments against Auras being -1.

This is really cool and all and really wants to make me brew kill spell Aura tribal, but c'mon guys, no need to make Dawn Evangel cry in the corner like that.

This will work well with cards like Inevitable End that forces the player to sac the enchanted creature.

Voltron Zur is at least mildly curious. I'm glad to see this, it feels really bad to go to enchantment world and have Zur get so few toys

Kind of wish this effect was on a legendary, but this is a good effect nonetheless. This being a 1/2 for 1 and having lifelink is great.

Honestly, black doesn’t have the most terrible engine for these things.


Turn 1: Eidolon
Turn 2: Aphemia
Turn 3: cast the -3/-3 aura on an opponent creature, draw a card, and turn that aura into a zombie.

Voltron Uril, the Miststalker feels the same way. But whatever, it's not like Uril and Zur are hurting for busted options. At least my Lorthos deck is going to be noticeably less janky.

As for the card, seems like a decent one drop in limited.

With the wording of its last effect being similar to Judith, the Scourge Diva. You can put Aura buffs on Hateful Eidolon then have a sac out in case she's going to be exile, bounce, or sent back to the deck.
