At least the other mode allows red to deal with big threats fairly efficiently--something that is traditionally outside of its wheelhouse. 3R kills any x/6 creature or 6 loyalty walker.
i've had plenty of games where i've got a grip full of small removal spells, neither player has creatures in play, and my opponent is too high in life to burn out. this lets me swing into their face in that situation.
I may fiddle around with this in my Pioneer Burn deck. A Prowess trigger for just 2 cmc if needed. Could be a finisher if you are flooding out I suppose.

Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
I will say the black one appears to be the best of the cycle. I don’t anticipate they’ll do anything novel with the blue one (so long as it has good art like the rest I don’t mind either) and the white one, well....
Blue one is probably just draw or tap. Although if it can also untap permanents it could be interesting. Countering unless they pay twice X might be meh, although a counters would be good with the theme of casting on opponents turns

Other people are guessing about Thassa's Intervention so I might as well join in. What do I have to lose except being shamed and humiliated for eternity when I wind up being wrong?
Instant speed, mode 1 will be Spell Blast and mode two will be a double Dreadwaters except x = the amount of mana you spent instead of the number of islands you control
barring stuff like Boros Reckoner or something this tends to be FAR worse than Murder or something like that.
at the very least, they should allow you to split the damage between multiple targets or something because X spells were never for removal, really... you always used them to throw at face and in case of dire need, you kill a creature with it.... but you'd normally prefer to use Lightning Bolt and friends for that.
It wouldn't be tapping or flickering as Thassa already does that. As each intervention had no shared effect with its corresponding god so far.
Not sure if any of those would work in a twice X mode tho. Also, we already have two Draw X effects in Standard right now, one in creature form and one in Sorcery form, not sure if WotC would be willing to print a third one.
Out of these, a Syncopate-like effect seems the most likely, especially since we have no similar effects in Standard right now, but that would require it being an Instant and would probably cost XU, and I'm not sure what twice-effect could be coupled with that. Mill twice X maybe? Would be a great Escape enabler if so.
I don’t know if mill sounds right. Thassa isn’t traditionally about that. I think mill might also be beneficial to the opponent with escape, and blue doesn’t appear to be well equipped at preventing much of it like black and I suppose Gruul can.
Alternatively a mode could be that X target creatures are unblockable
Draw x and counter unless paying twice x makes the most sense though. A bit dull but I’m not sure what blue could really do. Freeze x creatures is possible but Thassa herself already taps down creatures so I doubt it

Problem is that those two effects don't meld well into a single card. To make a Counter, the spell would have to be an Instant. To make a balanced Draw X spell at Instant speed, the minimum acceptable cost as shown in cards before is XUUU. That means that the "Counter" side of the card would be a 4 mana Quench which is... underwhelming, to say the least.

Good point. It could always be that you loot X instead, and the idea is it would fuel Escape for blue that way. I wouldn’t like that, but it’s possible at XU I suppose
The blue one could always be pushed. Seriously that Nylea's Intervention so far is the best of the cycle because it simply tutors up any number of lands, don't matter if its basic or nonbasic.

This is a possibility. It could also simply cost XUU to resemble Nylea’s intervention and one mode could be Pull From Tomorrow. This being a better version of it, which would indeed be pushed. I’d just like to see blue in Theros have a powerful counterspell. Draw is always the default for blue instants and sorceries. I’d like them to explore some unique takes on countering
Create or destroy? Purphoros and his forge give you options. This might be one of the better cards of the cycle.

you know whats fun to do with those tokens populating them

That being said....maybe the first mode with Anointed Procession but if casting the first mode you are probably about to win, anyway.

I like that the first mode can take out creatures and deal some damage. It’s not too bad
