Escape—{2RR}, Exile three other cards from your graveyard.
Ash Phoenix escapes with a +1/+1 counter.
2/2
I was anticipating a phoenix with escape. They had to do it, right?
I also think this card is amazing. A 2/2 Flying, Haste for 3 is playable, and a repeatable 3/3 Flying, Haste for 4 is also playable. The escape cost is low in terms of cards, as well. I think this will definitely see play.
I really like the different ways they’ve been depicting phoenixes recently. Between this skeletal vulture and the owl Phoenix of Rekindling Phoenix I appreciate that they aren’t going with the generic eagle-looking style.

This might be one of the more effective Escape cards we've seen so far that will make somewhat of an impact on the tournament scene. Everything else has been rather blah..
The art depiction is great. It doesn't look so...predictable (or obscure) from the others we've seen throughout the years. (Shivan Phoenix really?)

This is likely one of the strongest cards revealed so far. It has early and late game utility. I have no complaints other than I'm going to hate facing it with my control decks
This feels good. I'm not a huge fan of Escape because I prefer not to exile my graveyard, but in mono red burn I feel like this is your top end threat that is just never going to leave your opponents alone.
I'm a big fan of the 2/2 flying haste for 3 body, and then the added pump is what really excites me because it adds some much needed gas to speed up the game.
I also love the art on this card. I'm definitely going to pick up a playset and try to fit them into my Pioneer red deck wins.
of the cards you mentioned only Cry of the Carnarium is reasonable. Epic Downfall won't hit the early threats rdw throws at you and the other two are gaveyard hate so essentially a muligan just to defeat half a card. Glass Casket is a good option, but it can be counter sb'd, leaving Banishing Light and Scorching Dragonfire as the only reasonable spot removal. Cry of the Carnarium and Banishing light are the only ones that would see regular play outside of answering this card. It's going warp deck building in the same way rekindling phoenix did.

The red decks I face the most in both FNM and arena are Cavalcade decks. In the most common lists they have Torbran, Thane of Red Fell and Chandra's Spitfire. Both are exiled by Downfall. I already maindeck two and board two, and they are almost always useful. Cry of the Carnarium is maindecked right now, as well, because most people like having an easy answer to Cauldron Familiar. Play a few more spot removal cards like Disfigure and Sorin's Thirst and you win. I also usually cast the creature half of Murderous Rider and if they don't kill it, they have a hard time racing the lifegain while you kill their creatures or they spend a turn removing it, again slowing them down. I don't recall losing a game to them in quite a while and with everything I'd play in the deck anyway. Of course, if you play a deck with a weak matchup against RDW, then you will have to change up your deck, but that's why sideboards, meta calls, and "rock, paper, scissors" formats exist.

I bet I can play it together with Eternal Scourge and some board wipes. Two copies?
I agree, whole-heartedly. I love this artwork.

Will have to exile it. Cry of the Carnarium. Epic Downfall. Grafdigger's Cage is in Standard (I know most people forget), Leyline of the Void (also in Standard). Cling to Dust. I think it is a very strong card, but there are answers.
That's why it will slot directly into my Pioneer deck. I already play Eternal Scourge and Squee, the Immortal so I have fodder for Specter's Shriek. Nothing like 8 Thoughtseizes. I was running 4 Thought Erasure too, but it's too much, lol.
