It’s the only equipment (other than overpriced hammer) that really gives a big boost to little creatures out there... and allows for a nice Temur mana base with paradise Druid (mana fixing and potential haste, vigilance, menace, flying, hexproof beatstick in the air) and the 1-drop halberd.
Did you miss the flying and haste to equipped creatures part? Also that hes bigger than those guys. Legendary doesnt need to mean overly complex. I mean, isamaru is a grizzly bears for w that sees tons of play sooo
Don’t forget about Renown Weaponsmith which is currently in standard. Having two of these effects might be interesting especially if we see a tutor reprint of some kind like Open the Armory or Steelshaper’s Gift. I’d also mention Stoneforge Mystic, but M20 rotates before the fall Zendikar set.
I know its already a legendary thats been discussed, but that is just bad on Wizards. Not even a twitter-long snippet of story accompanying the literal equivalent of Daedalus from ancient myth.
I really like this guy. I get why he's boring to some, but I think he could be a valuable utility legend in EDH for a UR or WUR equipment focused deck. I was thinking about him as the commander, but I think he's better in the 99 of a deck that adds white for more utility. Especially in an Elsha of the Infinite build with Leonin Shikari. He isn't flashy, but the artifact ramp is good and giving flying and haste to equipped creatures is going to be consequential often in decks designed around equipment which is where he'll be most at home.

I don’t know about you but even the cards we have gotten lore for are not giving me a very respectable idea of what is transpiring in the story this time. It is very minimal and bare and I feel rather disappointed. So while I agree with you it’s really just insult to injury at this point. At least the set itself is amazing but I can’t imagine how remarkable it would have been had it been accompanied by lore like Godsend last time
