I wish they would have done something to modern as well, but it appears they are happy with the modern meta right now. Modern is definitely not in a bad place, but I would really love to have seen Mox Opal be banned with several other cards like Veil and Simian Spirit Guide also possible bans. It looks like people may possibly be playing pioneer for a bit until they start concentrating on modern again. We will see.
I like big bans!
So what's more problematic at the moment, green or planeswalkers?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

why on EARTH would you want either of those cards banned? it's like wanting Platinum Angelbanned. it may do a thing you don't love, but it isn't doing anything wrong. for a card to even be considered for a ban, it has to see relevant play. there are a dozen cards off the top of my head that in theory I hate what they do. and not one of them should be banned because they don't actually break anything and it is a truly format killing precedent. because no matter what deck you play, there will be people who hate it. banning needs to be saved for problems, not quirky little novelty cards that might win a game here or there on a good day

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I really wish they'd stop pushing 1-2 cards for constructed while dumbing down everything else for limited. It's the reason Oko is more dominant in this standard than JtMS was when it was in standard.
Trickster is too powerful!
Green players:”Yeah, I guess I saw this coming.”
Same with free ramp!
GPs:” I guess but without-“
And F*** Summer! Wrong season! Banned!
GPs:”Now hold on a second-“
Oh you are complaining about how life isn’t fair without your planeswalker, well Narset is restricted!
GPs: “Weird flex, but okay...”
Don’t talk back! No more watching Ren and Stimpy!
GPs:”That early 90s show? Are you talking about the Modern Horizons ol-“
Oh so smart you are correcting me? Fine no Wrenn and Six either! And Nissa will be forever single!!!
Reasonable, I think we all saw oko getting the hammer on standard and brawl.
Narset was good enough in eternal soo not a surprise on that.
W&6 were the target of complainments on the legacy meta
And another free spell getting banned.
Wizards really, really, dropped the ball on this set, damn.
Even draft is a miserable experience with the mill archetype being as strong as it is.
how long it has been since the last standard with this many banned cards?
let´s just hope the meta evolves into something more healthy from now one and that the next big thing doesn't simply destroy everything.
I'm never a huge fan of mill myself but I never felt it was that strong of a strategy. Way too many people play Mill as a plan A and never have a plan B in place. Disrupt the mill engine enough and they'll just concede. Off the top of my head the few times I've lost can be attributed to land screw.
What percentage of decks does WotC say is Mill?
I'm a little disappointed they banned Veil of Summer. I always felt this was a solid card against blue (notably Oko) and the hand disruption BS from black. Oh well. It is what it is.
I didn't find Veil to be problematic but the other two absolutely were. We all know why Oko was a problem and once again free spells prove to be too tricky to balance.

I think mill is just strong in arena cause wizards don’t update the draft bots. In real life there is always hate picks and 2 people picking the same colors and thinking about blue mill(cause in arena it is stupid). I played close to 5 drafts and in only one someone was able to pick 3 merfolk-adventure 2 didn’t say please and 1 run away together (making a good/ok mill deck). Mill and Gx adventures (with the ink keeper ) are extremely hard to make while WB & WR knights are strong and food is also strong if you can pick the enablers.

yeah... it´s probably just this in arena... but damn, that's annoying
I feel like this is confirmation that the higher ups at WotC had no faith in this set's ability to sell based off of a combination of its themes, setting and lack of a Jacetice League member, so they relied on the tried and true method of adding a couple pushed cards to the set to ensure it sold well. Play Design had been doing such a great job, this is really the only reason I can think of for why this set has experienced so many problems.
I mean everyone immediately knew Oko was going to be oppressively good. There is no way Play Design missed that, or let it slip through the cracks.

I haven't been following the tournament play as well, but I understand the issue is using Oko to turn things into Elks? So Play Design tested the ability on their own creatures, but players use it how?

He can turn the food token into an elk too, so he keeps making 3/3 creatures every other turn.
Also he can exchange the food token for a small creature that the opponent has, so he controls the board by himself.
Glad I don't have any since the price will go down to about $20-$25 now, same for once upon a time.
I traded mine into the lgs last weekend for $17 which was a good move since now it'll be close to that price.

If I recall at some event they mentioned that they undervalued his ability to just shut down every utility card. Such as Oven Henge Priest. Basically they were using his +1 on their own small stuff and opponent's big stuff not seeing how oppressive hitting the opponent's turn 1 goose with a +1 was.

Note also that he is creating permanents on your side and neutering the opponent's threats, and it is all plus actions for him.
As Altair mentioned, there is no way that testing just missed how oppressive Oko was, and how good free spells are. Those two cards are featured on more marketing art than any others for the set. They're showcase parts of the product.
It is past time to stop presuming mistakes. WotC intended for these pushed cards to drive sales, and then to ban them after they had done. It is time to presume this kind of bait-and-switch intent as their business model.
I just went to mtggoldfish and I found out allot of bannings. Cards in Standard, Brawl, legacy banned. Narcet is restricted in vintage.
oko, veil of summer, and once upon of time is banned in standard.
oko is banned in brawl.
wrenn and Styx in legacy and narcet is restricted in vintage.
oko is going to drop big time. Get rid of it if you’re not using it.

However I do need to remind of pioneer/modern/legacy for oko he’s definatly usable in those (although legacy might be a overkill theory though)
