Subarashi field was just too good of a card in standard, agroo was not that good to presure it, and the deck could survive and reconstruct after wraths. Golos decks had more sideboard hate vs other golos decks than other decks
Good riddance, Field of the Dead. Just too resilient and permanent a solution to all sorts of decks out there.
Glad I won't have to face that on Arena starting this Friday.

Good Riddance:D Now it's just going to be who can drop the most busted green planeswalker earlier than the opponent.
Gotta say I fear the same. Feels like Food decks are free to reign over the format, but WotC obviously did some tests. Golos decks were probably decimating a bunch of stuff that could threaten food, but I don't know.. I feel like most decks are not equipped to deal with turn 3 control magic. And 6 loyalty is just over the top, even for a cmc 5+ PW. I don't know wtf they were thinking.
Good bye field, it was getting ridiculous, a deck could win just by searching and playing lands.
I think aggro can deal with oko, but they had no chance against field, I know cause I tried.

This is a lesson for WotC hopefully. You can't both print pushed land value like this and not print real land destruction to remove it. Personally, I'm not a big fan of land destruction, so I know what to choose. It should just have been an enchantment.
Highly ineffective against Golos. They recuperate next turn as long as they have a single spell or land ready, which is the vast majority of time. In order to get board wipe working, you need mana for both the zombies and building enough board presence to kill during the same turn - and in a matchup where you're very much behind in mana due to playing against a ramp deck.
oh thank god. now i get to see knight of the ebon blade every single matchup on arena, instead of every other matchup being field of the dead.
Aggro was artificially pushed because the only real way to beat Golos is to kill it before it lays eggs. Control and midrange will show up more now to combat aggro.
Field wouldn't have been so bad if we had a bit more land destruction, 'cause right now the only ways to get rid of it were Assassin's Trophy, Casualties of War, Demolish, and Rubble Reading. Of course only two are actually played, but one is only slightly played and it doesn't get played until turn 6 and by then some zombies may have already been swarming the field. Tectonic Edge or Field of Ruin being in Standard still would have helped bunches against such a greedy mana base that relies on a nonbasic so hard.
Field of Ruin was a great card that they should really have in more formats. I don't know that it would have been enough against field of the dead, but it's the best midground between land destruction being necessary and not feeling bad.
Because Ghost Quarter would've been an easy reprint to nuke Field of the Dead and nonsensical lands becoming too powerful is why I own multiple copies...and people callinge stupid is why I don't play sanctioned tourneys.
I wonder if we’ll see Field come off the banned list before M20 rotates?
I guess it really depends on if a universal hate card like Field of Ruin or Ghost Quarter is printed in a coming set and how the meta is at the time. It really is too bad that they printed it in the same set as Golos, because I think the ability to easily tutor for it by casting a 3/5 blocker which could stall the game (that also has an activated ability which gives late game card advantage) had a lot to do with Field’s prevalence in the meta.

i wish we saw more options to deal with "nonbasics"
If land destruction is super feelsbad and nobody wants it, they should stop pushing lands that can win the game.
Otherwise let me have a stone rain that just can't target basics at least.
I really miss when they would print answers for things in the same set instead of waiting a set or so or even when it was far to late.
Why make a stupid statement that has nothing to do with standard?
