This seems weak compared to the other rare lands. Blue gets scry 2 for the same cost. If the token were a knight or a soldier, it would be better. As it is, you get a 1/1 human for 5 mana. It goes with the theme of the set, but I do not see much synergy yet. Worthy knight seems like a better card than this. Overall, I would say that white seems like a weak color in this set which is disappointing following how weak it was for limited in M20.
I think this is one of the more solid ones. Not that cost effective considering you have to lock up 5 mana, but sometimes you want to sit there and be reactionary... and ultimately end up with nothing to react to. Thats where this will shine.
Not every exciting, which seems to be an ongoing theme for White cards in Eldraine, but Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree was the real deal in Ravnica. Yes, we don't have Glare of Subdual but this taps for W. Will still see play.
How did ESPN get a preview card, thats weird. I wonder, but its not Wednesday so its not the Ocho.
But yeah its another white token land, it'll be used.
ESPN got a preview card. That's amazing tbh. This cycle was blah as hell. Just a plug for Theros. I think the Gods will be mono-colored.
I said it before and I'll say it again, I bet they will only do the five mono colored gods this time around in theros. Two of them are directly tied to the story with elspeth, and the other 3 will balance it out.

I'm not sure that it will see play. Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree had support like Glare of Subdual and convoke. It was also an uncommon. This is a rare in an unexciting color for the set. There are lots of things better than 1/1s for 5 and white is usually looking for fast attacks not reactive 5 mana sinks. The format would really have to be very slow and have a human matters theme to make this work. Otherwise, knights, flyers and green big creatures will overrun the 1/1 human.

Funny you mention that when a 4 mana sink became one of the mainstays of the White Aggro archetype in Standard during its entire existence. These kinds of effects are supposed to give your White deck extra reach once you're out of gas or against Control, and considering there's almost no drawback on running this as 4-of in monocolor and possibly smaller quantities in duo, I fail to see your reasoning.

(How on earth did ESPN get a preview card)
Castle Ardenvale enters the battlefield tapped unless you control a Plains.
T: Add W.
2WW, T: Create a 1/1 white Human creature token.
The last one gives you tokens dang dog a token maker on a land
Not super efficient, of course, but opportunity cost is low... and it seems like that is the theme of this whole dang cycle.

Completely irrelevant anywhere except kitchen table.
