How a headhunter could be a Knight????
It is the first flavor fail of this set from my point of view...
A warrior would've made more sense. I understand that Knights are Mardu in this set, but a Rakdos Knight just seems like he'd be a violent thug with no honor.
I can see a headhunter being a knight in this realm - a twisted knight whose "quests" are pursuing people for money - just like a Ronin is a masterless Samurai.
POWER UNDERWHELMING!...Really, this guy is so overcosted, 4 (color) mana for a 2/3 with Menace is already disappointing, and THREE color mana for an ability that can't even hit players, feels more garbage than filling.
Yea I understand their purpose of the hybrid mana for devotion returning as a mechanic in theros but can they atleast make them good rather than horrendous
Well maybe he is a headhunter that looks out for hags, and other “monsters” like the vampire slayers, etc of inistrad. Could possible also look out for rogues and other outlaw too.
For the card: I can see this being good/ok in limited but don’t think it has a chance to see play outside of devotion type decks.
Edit: oh btw core 20 has that want that deals 5 damage to any target when it goes to grave, not that it makes it good but people can make a fun brawl deck with the headhunter, the want, and the merfolk of the loch
This cycle looks atrocious specially after the overall very successful CCDD cycle in GRN block were all cards were great in limited and some of then were very good in standard.
And for this one not even the flavor salvages the card. Mardu knights is a terrible idea that I'm sure people will hate because while some red and black knights here and there are nice to depict knights who fails the ideal, when you make then Mardu the white knights becomes the exception and not the rule.
mechanics and power level aside; flavorfully, I'm finding it hard to connect the whole sacrificing-my-own-guys-and-stuff-to-shock-things with a headhunting knight.
The rakdos one for hybrid all set for morgis if he gets reprinted/comes

It’s just not that good in general should have made the activation just (B/R) rather than three

These hybrids definitely feel super over-costed or under-statted for their costs.

Still feels bad.
