I am not sure how official or reliable the source article is, but they say Maro said it. This would be interesting. If there are no duals, what are we going to see? Hopefully they have SOME use outside of Standard.
I don't really like the swamp but being fetchable is really nice. I am cautiously optimistic about the rest of the cycle. Also, without a rare dual land cycle, hopefully they do some nice, reasonably powered, rare lands. I am not asking for anything broken but maybe something better than Guildmages’ Forum and Plaza of Harmony.
some day we'll all move past the idea that there needs to be cycles of lands, especially rare lands, in every single set... that'll be a good day.
There still needs to be balance, though, and the easiest way to achieve that is by creating cycles. I think lands deserve to be done in cycles, at least Mana-producing lands.
We have the enemy temples from m20 and i'm sure we'll get ally temples with Theros #2, we still have the shocklands in standard, so i don't why Eldraine with no duals is such a huge scandal

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

In a typical set, I'm happier to open a rare dual land than most of the other rares. I'm fine for there not to be a cycle in every set, but I certainly never mind to see them.
But give us a new uncommon cycle of decent quality, and I'm perfectly happy to pass up the rares. We need more good uncommon cycles.

Exactly. Current mana base is massively good. I'm actually relieved there's no rare land cycle now.
I'd appreciate it a lot of they finished the BFZ, SOI and AMK land cycles before experimenting with no DL cycles or even worse more new ally color cycles.
Let's hope they're at least very playable in more than one format. Mono color rare lands don't have a stellar record.
Mono color rare lands don't have a stellar record.
With adamant in the set monocolor rare lands make sense, even if they'll end up weak

And return the theros is next so the ally temples have got to be there although with the under world theme surprised the enemy were in core 2020 and not the return set

Scandal is an overstatement but this is the first fall set without a dual cycle in ... a decade? Anything that is a break from their established routine is noteworthy.
Shocklands will be Standard legal until next October a year from now. I don’t know why people think this is any kind of concern that Throne Of Eldraine doesn’t have any kind of dual lands.
We've got Shocks and Checks in Standard already. And Theros is our next stop, right? Last time we were there, we got ten duals, the Temples. So, maybe for our next visit...

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
tbh with checklands rotating out i think the mana base becomes much worse now if you want to play a 3 colored deck. and we have ravnica that really wants you to play more than 1 or 2 colors. a landbase with shocks, temples and the common tapped lands is just bad if. to many taplands. the checklands rotating out will hurt alot of decks if there comes no alternative in eldraine.
for example esper hero, a deck where only 1-2 nonland cards rotate out, but with the land base rotating it will be hard to play it post rotation
Personally, I'm ok with that.
I'm really fed up by the idea that in many decks (and all multi-color decks) the manabase is one of the most expensive parts while at the same time being the most important part of the deck if you don't want your chance to win to go down the drain.
When you can reliably pull off 3 and 4 color decks with almost every multi-color land coming into the battlefield UNTAPPED, then there is something wrong with the balancing (personal opinion, obviously).

I agree with you, it's frustrating when you feel like you pretty much have to play a 3-color deck with a bunch of expensive lands if you want to play more than one color, also when decks can go T2 UB for Thought Erasure and then T4 WWBB for Basilica Bell-Haunt colors feel less significant, instead of deciding whether you'd like to play UB Control or WB, all you need to do is cram as many dual lands you can and just play both of those cards in the same deck. I'm glad they're toning down the mana fixing a bit, there's something called too much of a good thing, the insane mana fixing available during the Lorwyn standard enabled too much "good stuff" decks for an interesting format.

Uh shocklands don’t rotate till the return to Zendikar without the eldrazis set
Besides we got the enemy temple scry lands in m20 theros coming up should bring us the ally ones
Personally, I'm ok with that.

But the thing about printing some kind of rare dual land cycle in every set is that it means they're more accessible, particularly when they reprint older ones (I just bought a 9th ed Caves of Koilos for 83¢ this weekend).

I hope the quality of rares gets up there with M20 and WAR otherwise draft could get pretty hard to afford.

The rare land cycle is the scry land
Temples don’t fit in Camelot and nor fairy tales

I mean lands are nice and make up about 33% or more of your deck but there's a plethora of multicolor lands already in existence.

They sell packs, Maro admits it on his blog and podcasts all the time, and a lot of players like opening them (like me).

I think Maro has already pushed back on the idea of this being a wedge set, so I wouldn't expect a full cycle of these lands.
