Theoros return was so predicted it’s not even unexpected
A monster focused set? Omg if it’s Godzilla monsters and not under bed monster/normal size I will be so happy
Teferi is the focus on core this time alright
Send Ikari returns yet again
Oh my any wagers will get omnath number 4 with 4 colors and many things will you guys destroy with rage if the eldrazis came back a 3rd time on zendikar
I was just coming here to post about that. After ROE, I was really excited for more Eldrazi. after BFZ and Shadows blocks, i never want to see them again, they completely forgot what Eldrazi were. ZEN and WWK were fantastic sets, let's hope Wizards gets at least a little bit of that. if they botch this as bad as BFZ block, i hope they just destroy the plane.
I don't want t go back to Theros, it was underpowered and boring.
The second one, the 'monster set' smbol looks a lot like Lorwyn block, that could be exciting if that kind of power and creativity is around

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
They made it sound very much like it was a kaiju world. Moreover, Mark Rosewater said on the stream that you get to "build your own monsters". So I'm guessing it's some sort of put out a kaiju that's pretty basic and hard to kill, then throw more and more things on it to make it something unique to your deck and/or this particular game.
I want an alternative world or parallel where the eldrazi never existed but the Emeria/kamsa, Ula, and Cosi do existed. Probably colorless spirits like Ugin instead or colorless enchantment spirit gods.
If I had to guess, Ikoria seems to be the "not-Kamigawa" Japanese inspired block MaRo has been teasing for years. More "Modern Japan Sentai Kaiju World" and less "Traditional Japan Spirit Samurai World", just like Eldraine is less Lorwyn "Fairtyale Fair Folk Celtic Horrors World" and more "Fairytale Disney Reboot Arthurian World".
Return to Theros is like "you don't say" and Zendikar is a big meh for me. Meanwhile, the words "Teferi Core Set" just made me very nervous.

Without hyperbole, I believe that BFZ and OGW were worse screw-ups than Homelands. Homelands had the excuse that it was an early set, and the game's audience was much smaller. There was so much riding on BFZ and OGW, and they were so historically bad. The game still hasn't recovered from them.
I'm in the same boat as you: ROE was my favorite set of the Modern era. After BFZ and OGW, I'm out. WotC has shown no sign that they understand why those sets were as bad as they were, and I have zero faith that they can rekindle interest in Zendikar.
I'm fine with a return to Theros, though. The first trip didn't exactly set the world on fire, but there's plenty of room for improvement.
In Monster World, maybe you have Creature Parts that can be combined together? I bet Kiora is returning then to play with the big sea monsters that will inevitably exist on that world.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
The second one, the 'monster set' smbol looks a lot like Lorwyn block, that could be exciting if that kind of power and creativity is around
I thought the same thing too.
Honestly I thought we'd be getting more of the Eldraine line as the Wiki hinted it's part of a new longer story arc post-Gatewatch.
Theros is fine, and maybe we'll see whether Elspeth becomes a central part of the game again esp. if Gids is involved. And if the monster set has magnificent beasts, might want to stock up on beast-related cards from Onslaught before that ***** hits!
Zendikar without eldrazi is a huge win in my books. Those things were just silly antagonists anyone with a concept of creative writing could conceptualize.

Is it only me who´s a bit bored by not staying at one of these planes for longer? I like when there´s continuity both in gameplay and story.
I liked the Theroes storyline a lot but only staying there for 1 set now, is too bad
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Sure. Like Kaladesh made you feel like an inventor. Except that the only mechanic that made you feel like an inventor, Fabricate, barely appeared in Kaladesh and wasn't even in Aether Reborn.
Now, maybe if this Monster Set has Host and Augment or something very similar, then we're talking. Otherwise, you're not actually making anything.
One thing to note about the Eldrazi is that they’ve been marketing failures in each iteration they’ve existed. They essentially ruined Zendikar 1 drafting (which is a pretty big deal because drafting moves a lot more packs than just straight selling alone); Emrakul one also got booted from commander because the only card that format needs less is Griselbrand. Eldrazi 2 overran every format except Standard, then Emrakul managed claim Standard to by being the cherry on top of the mistake now called Kaladesh block. The end result is one point on another in the past decade(ish) there has been a problem in every format that could be tied back to Eldrazi cards.
Like, maybe we see Emrakul again one day because the story demands it, but through and through, the Eldrazi tribe as a whole has nothing but bad publicity behind them because they were a problem in of themselves or helped push an existing problem over the top. And this is coming from a guy who’s favorite tribe is the Eldrazi.
I have no faith in the "Monster Themed" set since remember how hyped the "Dragon themed" block was for Tarkir? A plane made up of dragons! And it was an absolutely awful block for dragon lovers and had little to no playable dragons AT ALL. So im pretty sure if we had a kaiju or "build a better monster" set, all of the cool and interesting creatures would be over costed pretty much out of playability anyway.

I mean, you can by as cynical as you want, I'm just saying MaRo literally said the "new mechanic we've never done before" lets you "build your own monster". Take that as you will. But the set is focused on being a monster world, and you get to build your own monsters, so...

Another thing is, Eldrazi are not likely to EVER return to Zendikar. FFS, one time they visited that world they were imprisoned, and then when they escaped, two of their kind were killed and the other fled. IF they ever bring non-Emrakul eldrazi back, I'd say it's highly likely they'll avoid the plane of Zendikar like the plague. From their alien perspective, that is the one plane ever shown in Magic's lore where their kind was able to be DESTROYED. Predators, especially smarter predators, don't return to places where it's too risky to feed. They look for food elsewhere.

I was hoping they'd do a Japanese world with a tokusatsu inspired world at some point. Sentai flavor can still bring the ninjas and samurai.
I was REALLY hoping that there wouldn't be any whiff of the Gatewatch for a while but now with Theros and Zendikar coming back it looks like we haven't seen the last of them yet. I'm so done with the Gatewatch. (Assuming they're going to be in it in partial appearances).

Probably we have had some hints at it in the last 4 sets (?)
