Piper of the Swarm 1B
Creature- Human Warlock
Rats you control have menace. 1B, T: Create a 1/1 black Rat creature token. 2BB, T, Sacrifice three Rats: Gain control of target creature.
1/3
Well they certainly nailed the Pied Piper flavor. If rats are supported then this may be worth a slot in Standard. Certainly worth it in Commander where stealing multiple creatures every turn is probably very reasonable between rat tokens and untap effects.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I'm bugged that they went with Warlock over Witch. I read that many real life male witches consider "warlock" a derogatory term. At any rate, Warlock is now black's primary mage creature type, creating a cycle of Cleric, Wizard, Warlock, Shaman, and Druid.

Maybe it's a D&D style Warlock and gets his/her powers over rats from some extremely powerful entity.
So, Black now has Assassin and Warlock as two of its distinct classes. Maybe they can bring Mercenary back as black's primary fighter class?

DnD uses warlock so it help cross brand and as magic warlocks are gonna be there own thing and wouldn't follow what real witches own beliefs and traditions, it helps keep the two from being compared.
Another new creature type is also gonna be showing up on Monday per Maro;
baalsabo-blog asked: I think nobles and warlocks are great additions to the game. New creature types seem like a great way to explore new conceptual design space. I see the addition of new creature types as a generally additive event, rather than as a subtractive one.
A: Wait, there’s one more coming in one of the preview cards in my Monday column. : )

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Well, at least black has its own mage type now, rather than constantly sharing Cleric, Wizard, Shaman, and Druid with the other colors. I expect to see a Warlock errata for a lot of Witches:

The etymology of "warlock" is literally "oath breaker." So it's a bit ironic that in D&D it is used for pretty much the opposite, magic which comes through upholding a pact. It's also a bit strange that contract-magic is associated with chaotic alignments, when conceptually it seems quite lawful.

It's a deal with the devil thing.
Right, which makes it good as a characteristic black-aligned class. But the requirement that warlocks be chaotic and/or evil in the D&D context (at least in 3.5) makes a lot less sense than lawful and/or evil. The devil should have some confidence that the terms of the deal will be honored by the warlock, or he probably wouldn't offer it, suggesting a more lawful orientation for the warlock. But back to real-world context, making a deal with the devil can be considered a kind of oath-breaking in the sense of apostasy, if one had made a prior covenant with God. It doesn't necessarily carry that connotation in fantasy settings, though, instead the modern fantasy warlock as archetypically defined by D&D begins with an oath made and not with breaking one. Subversive oaths are still oaths, after all. But meanings of words change, so it's fine.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
