its amazing to see people on here miss the point so amazingly. a few pages ago somebody said "oh look the alt right are coming out", because if you dont like stupid flamboyant character designs year after year from a company that employees sanctimonious hypocritical twitter police types, you MUST be 'alt-right', whatever the hell that even means,...
the biggest problem with all of this isnt the depiction of handsome male characters with chests exposed, its the fact that the company only hires and affiliates itself with the most bigoted types of sjws. the problem is if an employee at WOTC said to his co-workers "i love the classic conan stuff, that traditional fantasy stuff" it would be seen as 'problematic' and he'd probably be fired. and so for years the company has been on a crusade to completely emasculate itself. to remove even the slightest depiction of heroic traditional masculinity, and replace it with often obnoxious depictions of women fullfilling those roles, almost as if women are allowed to be masculine now and men arent. i mean its hard to even explain it because it just sounds so stupid, but that is whats happening.
the 'special snowflakes' maro described dont get triggered by a single artwork with a sexy man on it, nor do they 'need therapy' over it, the artwork represents a massive trend throughout ALL popculture to emasculate it and allow women exclusivity to being the 'badass's'.
and you really have to ask WHY? are they chasing an audience they dont have? do they think traditional fantasy art was 'problematic'? why was it problematic? why was it ever a 'problem' that there were was media targeted more exclusively at men? did old conan stories invoke 'toxic masculinity' in its readers? (the answer is empirically NO)
im just asking questions here really. what i think is happening is, from WOTCs perspective, if men and women can just be merged into a single demographic of doughy soy-based NPCs, then the company just has to market its product to that one diluted audience and give them a stupid 'ready-for-cosplay' character every year. and to hell with fantasy art that complexly reflects and explores the light and the dark, the benevolent and the evil, the hope and despair inherent to the human soul
Well, you’ve got one thing right: everything you just explained does sound stupid. Hooray for agreement!
For anyone else who doesn’t realize this guy is your garden variety troll, please make sure to keep an eye on your Billy Goats Gruff, lest they go missing.

Oh nice, unnecessary nudity from a time magic and wizards had the mentality to appeal for the white nerd steriotypes and usually would come with things like “make the protagonist a white male because our fans are that” “make woman as sexualized as they can be”. Glad that we turned away from that era, right?
Kinda sad that now that we have evolved this kind of topic appears when I criticize the unnecessary nudity of man and how over the top exposure of a body type can be harmful for younger and adult man alike.
Yet I hope you got your laught with your joke. Very funny. I won’t say that this is a exemple of men getting the low end when it comes about their representation as oversexualized in fictional midia because you trying to make fun of it kind makes clear that you think it is a joke.
Point is, today fantasy and fiction try to be as realistic as they can be. Making oko as a shirt less dude in a plane where soo far everyone has clothes suited for could regions is not realistic. The villain have from what it appears stabliahed on the plane and appears shirt less only for what I can call oversexualization (or simply unecessary sexualization of the men body)
Oko isn't from this plane, and we have no idea what the plane he's from is like. At least I believe he's not a Eldraine native. And men are not oversexualized in media. You can look at the entire cast of male Planeswalkers and the only one that comes off as "sexualized" is Oko, that's a pretty small percentage.

Uh, the art direction matches traditional representations of Puck as a semi-naked, forest-dwelling trickster. I realize there’s a slight language barrier, but do you really not know who Puck is?

Oh puck has a 4-6 pack abs, nice detail on this play from 200+ years ago ye. I m sure the autors said that puck was a faery that looked like a very atractive men.
Now I know how feminists must have felt when they asked for less oversexual representation of woman in pop culture. “Hey this is a bit too much” “oh but you don’t know this, it looks like this because of that”
I don’t even know why I should read academy works on psychology or argue about this. It is clearly a lost battle, people think it is ok, after all boys- men in general need to learn how to not care and be happy with what they got and if they don’t fit in the norm of a desirable body, boo them.
Oh puck has a 4-6 pack abs, nice detail on this play from 200+ years ago ye. I m sure the autors said that puck was a faery that looked like a very atractive men.
I mean yes, in general most have interrupt the Shakespeare faeries as the peak of human attractiveness. A few recent theatre/english scholars also theorized if the faeries where stand in for the greek gods with shakespeare mixing english and greek stories together. The play is set in Athens Greece, Theseus and Hippolyta are (debatably) the same characters in greek myths and the biggie, Puck is basically playing the role of Eros/Cupid. So yes possible Puck is meant to be a interrupted as a greek god so a 4-6 pack would fit.
Magic has also been using more reveling outfits on non-humans in cold environments to help show the unhumanness, see vampires on Innistrad and Ravnica 3.
So I gotta ask does Garruk make you all feel bad? In most of his art he wearing a furry He-man outfit and is very unrealistic big boy 8'2ft and 480lbs of pure muscle?

If the character is on a plane far enough to be considered the villain of the set then he should be at least wearing some clothes. Sarkhan in return of the eldrazi was in a mountain soo he was wearing clothes suited for could. While in tarkir he had the same kind of outfit because he knew that at least in the Temur region it was could. In war of the spark he was in amonkhet. See that’s how you make fantasy realistic, thats why no one complained soo far about Sarkhan. Now in a plane based on Britain a male character being presented as a 80s rock star in the middle of the forest of what looks like a could plane is not close to realistic, sorry.
Wait weren’t you saying that characters don’t need to be undressed or wearing litle to be atractive? (when people, even tho I don’t agree with their point of view, said the character was sexualized) (I must assume that you didn’t wanted to say that atractive= sexualized) Why it is ok for OKO to be shirtless and show his body when it is clearly not realistic for the setting? Did they wanted to make the character atractive? Couldn’t they just make his with some more clothes? Does every “main” humanoid character have a model body (be fitness, have a workout chest and a muscular belly?) I also think it is a problem with female characters. Wizards only makes fit and muscular humans as main characters and this can create some dangerous self image problems in children (The perceived main public of the game) is it really necessary to have all main characters (men and woman) be unrealistic comparated with the majority of the player base?
Is there something wrong with me if I look at Oko and don’t think he’s attractive, or is that normal?
I don’t know, this is kinda what man asked when lets say spider woman had giant boobs and wore revaling clouthes and was drawn in unpratical/unrealistic ways.

Ye ok, nice to know that the average men of England were all very muscular, soo muscular that they could play man and woman alike. Nice to know that accurate repressentatiom of Shakespeare’s plays, The more you know.
Huh vampires in Innistrad? Are you talking about those vampires that caused this kind of conversation in original Innistrad? Or are you talking about the vampires using summer European outfits in some Innistrad arts?
Ravnician vampires? Are you talking about the orzhov vampires that are always with classic orzhov outfit? Or are you talking about dimir vampires (the ones that looks like humans) Szadeck, etc. oh are you talking about that legendary vampire in dragon maze that people called sexy because he was shirtyless and was thick? Nice 👍
About Garruk: since the moment he was reintroduced (after Lorwyn)(during core sets and original innistrad) people have commented on how he was just a mountain of muscles and some how unrealistic he was, glad Garruk didn’t have exposure and don’t even look human (from lore point of view, other characters words). He surely is another unrealistic model, and glad the only time he was the highlight for anything he was showcased as a monster.
Planeswalkers try to dress some what appropriately for the plane their visiting as to not draw too much attention to themselves. Oko’s not even trying. Which is utterly stupid for someone with the ability to shape-shift.
Seriously Eldraine is full of caucasian and negroid skinned people and Oko decides to look like an 80’s glamrock asian version of David Bowie. ******* why?

No in fact it was nearly all boy actors (10-21) played women, the most used where under 16-13 since they still hadn't cracked their voices. Typically when you where a "child star" in that time you'd play woman at first until you grew up and could play the male characters.
Huh vampires in Innistrad? Are you talking about those vampires that caused this kind of conversation in original Innistrad?
You mean how both men and women show off chest yes. Night Revelers, Olivia, Asylum Visitor, Bloodhall Pirest ect all show a lot of cleavage and chest for a place thats always cold enough you can see your breath.
And no wear do remember people being upset about the male vampire vampires due to their bodies, most comment I remember said it looked like Wizard was trying to have Twilight in the set (which is not wrong since Twilight helped they sell Innistrad to the higher ups).

There is also Etrata the Silencer who pretty much doesn't wear anything above her cleavage when it fall and raining.

No I'm asking you, do you feel bout Garruk the same way your reacting in this thread with Oko? If so then why would you want him back as you posted many times before?
Personally as I chubby guy I'd be happy to see more plus sized people. I thought Isareth the Awakener is cool and personally I was happy for a plus sized person, any gender, and that it was kick ass she was in a pretty revealing outfit. I've let the staff at wizard know that I found this cool and would like to see more characters with more different body types then the idealized ones we see in media. The more people politely tell the staff at wizards when appropriate "hey I'd like to see more men of bigger body types in more positive roles" the better chance we will see it happen.

Wait, when did multiple walkers change their outfits for a plane? Chandra turns her hair off from time to time, I guess Gideon looked slightly different in Amonkhet. Jace literally just took his cloak/top off in Ixalan, but I don’t remember majority of Gatewatch member doing jack to change their appearance from plane to plane. Kingdom Hearts? Totally, Magic card art? Not so much.
Considering D&D and M:tG are supposed to focus around a similar historical era where clothing is not mass produced, purple and green were the ratest of dyes, meaning only the upper class had access to them. Meanwhile Nissa and Liliana are making their way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and they’re plot-bound.
Considering I am not the only one to draw a parallel to Puck when seeing Oko, allow me to share my favorite media depiction of Midsummers Night’s Dream: Disney’s show Gargoyles.
There is one point where Oberon and Titania (king and queen of The Folk) travels to a modern city. It is pouring down rain. Raindrops are splashing against the pavement, the cars, the people walking past. But not Oberon and Titania. They do not want to get wet, so they will the rain not to hit them.
Puck is also in that bracket of power, but subservient to the throne of the folk.
Point being maybe Oko (Puck) wills it to not be as cold around him.
Or he is just a trickster and that is the image he shows but really he’s an obese, crotchety, old man missing most of his teeth once you strip away the illusion. Time will tell.
You’ll have a hard time making that case. Every male superhero, presented as the pinnacle of the male ideal, is absolutely ripped and sexualized to some degree.
and ps. jace and gideon suck as characters, so thanks again for making my point for me
Mmmh, the whole point of the conversation was that wotc made bad characters because it pandered to gays, nonwhites and so on just for the sake of diversity.
Apparently they made bad characters even when they try to make classic characters: the white buff male and the white "nerd" male.
It's pretty clear that they don't make bad characters because of sjw, they made bad characters and that's it

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Woah woah woah! Who told you you could bring logic into this?
There are fundamental and irreconcilable differences here. Well, okay, not just here but in general. This situation is both unfortunate and regrettable--if every individual person would treat other people with respect then most current social problems would cease to exist. *shrug* I can only advise, though, since I am not in charge and cannot tell people how to conduct themselves.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Mmmh, the whole point of the conversation was that wotc made bad characters because it pandered to gays, nonwhites and so on just for the sake of diversity.
Apparently they made bad characters even when they try to make classic characters: the white buff male and the white "nerd" male.
It's pretty clear that they don't make bad characters because of sjw, they made bad characters and that's it
So i guess your arguments just crumbled.
