I think its gonna be like monstrosity but instead of adding counters you just obtain some kind of ability
Or maybe it links to another card with a book and you can pay the alternate cost on this card to play the other card or cards. Like turning pages in a book? Maybe cards reference each other and can tutor each other up?

We're seriously at like half the posts in this thread now deleted.
New idea: Let's use this thread about a magic set, on a magic-specific forum, hosted on a magic-specific web site, filled with magic fans who want to talk about magic... to.. talk.. about.. Magic...
If you want to discuss world politics, gender equality, gender identity, etc, there's plenty of websites and discussion boards for that. This is not one of them. Using Magic as a metaphor for real world discussion doesn't qualify it for being here either.
I've posted two notes about this already.
Further discussion and arguments on gender identity/politics/etc will be dealt with via warnings and suspensions.

Does anybody think Wizards will take this opportunity to complete the Swords of X and Y cycle? It’s a good a place as any.
I don't think it'll be Sword of X and Y, but I definitely expect a high caliber sword or two. There are several tropes there, and surely there will be a sword in the stone and/or Excalibur reference (hopefully both - they weren't the same sword).
I don't believe that the Swords cycle will be continued in a standard set. The lasts swords were in modern horizon. They are recently pulling back from to powerful colorless artifacts, too. So not very likely.

Right, and to be fair, those two most recent Swords were a huge step back in terms of power level. Even if we got only one new Sword this set/block, there’s no reason it couldn’t or wouldn’t be compatible with the standard meta game.
I want to bet in a legendary sword that says: "If X happens, you become the monarch". If not in the standard set, at least in the brawl precon.
Otherwise, shame on Wizard, for letting the opportunity slip by.
Its be cool if there was a sword with suspend and it attached when it comes into play or something to seem like a sword in the stone being pulled out of the stone

Or maybe two more of the series, saving the last one for later. The set looks like it has an equipment theme to it, so it makes sense.
Maro has confirmed that the Sword of X and Y series will not be completed in standard sets because they want them to be stronger than they allow for standard sets.
I imagine that we wont see an analogue for both The Sword in the Stone and Excalibur for the same reason that we got Krakens in Theros. Pop culture conflates the two as the same sword even though they weren't.
So keeping with the Arthurian theme, I'm wondering how deep they will go with the mythology and stories. It would be great to have a Green Knight equivalent in the game. I bet we will see an extension of Knight tribal as a as a return of Faeries!

Modern Horizons was labeled MH1 if I'm not mistaken, which means they are planning an MH2. We can all but guarantee at least one sword there. And if there's only one, it means they are putting the other two in MH3. I couldn't see it going any other way unless they kill Modern Horizons. We already know where and when to expect swords of X and Y, and it would be strange to see them anywhere else.

I have some disappointing news for you. First Maro has said that the dive into Arthurian is fairly shallow because the populace doesn't actually know that much. He specifically calls out the Green Knight as something probably not done because no one would recognize it.
Second, he has said faeries play a much smaller role than people are making them out to be.
I think they can still hit Excalibur and other legendary weapons without finishing the Sword of X/Y cycle. They can just be legendary equipment. I'm thinking like Blackblade Reforged. Hopefully we get a wizards staff legendary artifact too.
I had to double check the new story book text box and there are two mana costs on it. So I am thinking some form of split or aftermath ability.
I lately noticed that Stirring Address likely takes place on Eldraine. Wizards likes to do that sort of thing. It's possible the queen they're referring to is Queen Marchesa, but she's not super into justice and the background doesn't suggest Fiora. I can't really think of another queen they'd be referring to, but I'm not big into the story. Just a thought.

Maybe they are refering to Queen Arthenia. Jokes aside i could see it happening. Maybe the plane is all about people getting their own Excalibur and some gain special swords and become kings and/or queens or they gain the right to fight for one of the corts or the main Throne.
there is a new multi-cost mechanic with a storybook like frame in cards.
I was thinking Sagas would be nice in this set as they go with the stories, but the create multi-cost mechanic seems to be this.
Willing to bet there will be a strong sub-theme on equipment / artifacts
as swords and grails and other artifacts are important in Arthurian legends.

Yep. You are quoting half the internet here. Nearly everyone agrees they are a bit of a step down. I've seen this said dozens of times now in threads discussing the new Swords. Good job.
We still have no reason to expect they are putting Swords of X + Y into a Standard set, as they have officially stated they do not want to do that.. Based on that alone, it seems there is absolutely zero chance we'll get them in any Standard-legal set. That includes "Throne of Eldraine". If they ever make an announcement to the contrary I'd think it is (remotely) possible. As it stands right now, zero chance.
