Was long overdue powering up the commons. I never fully bought into this idea of these types of cards being too powerful at common for limited. A powered up format does not = a less enjoyable limited format, and taking away the power from commons has both contributed to deck prices going up and making pack opening less worthwhile and fun when you will never use most of the cards in a pack ever.
Loving Murder at common. I was so tired of this effect being 5-6 mana. Not sure if I like Tomebound Lich more or less thanShadowmage infiltrator. It's a good problem to have.
Surprised that the Tarkir Refuges got reprinted in place of the regular tap lands, but pleasantly so. Not surprised to see Evolving wilds however. I also like the art of the Cloudkin Seer. Murder is nice to see again, and the lich is a pretty powerful card for an uncommon. It seems the powerlevels are really pushed in this set.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Wow, Cloudkin Seer is yet another fantastic Common. Elvish Visionary with a great evasive body and two relevant types sounds like a homerun to me. Pauper is going to have a field day with this set.
Tomebound Lich also looks pretty sweet. Holds the ground pretty well and the ETB loot gives him both long-term and immediate upsides. As of right now, the Explore package seems like a better deal to fill the Grave, but after rotation this could be relevant players for Command the Dreadhorde decks.
Not thrilled to have the 10 tap lands + evolving wilds at common because they'll occupy a lot of place in boosters. I see that there are many cards with heavy colored mana costs, so they might be necessary, but it's not ideal. Unless these tap-lands replace the basic?
It's unlikely that these replace the basic, since there's still 20 spots at the end of the set for basic lands.
Added Blood for Bones, which was supposed to be IGN Brazil's spoiler but didn't appear to actually be spoiled yesterday.
Wait, Blood for Bones doesn't targets? So, correct me if I'm wrong, but theoretically you could sack a creature and revive the same creature you just sacked so you can get ETB+Dies triggers for value and still get a creature back to your hand? That's pretty neat. Ideally you will use it as a reanimation spell, sure, but the added utility is always nice.

I personally hope they don't intentionally start gaming when things target and when they do not in ways that are guaranteed to cause confusion.
Assuming we're understanding it correctly, you can essentially bounce a guy to reanimate something else, but with a detour through the graveyard.
lich seems quite good as an anti aggro card. 3 toughness isn't exactly where you want to be, but lifelink and looting will make sure you can stall and find answers. It doesn't seem terrible in the control mirror either as an early way to pressure walkers and fix draws.

I just read the article. The tap lands will sometimes replace the basic in boosters. So we have the best of both worlds.
I don't have time to read words when I'm adding different words to a website! (Thank you for clarifying this, though. I rarely read articles during spoiler season, since I'm too busy adding the spoilers!)
I really appreciate better commons. It makes limited less bomb driven, it improves the Standard Pauper format which is popular in mtga and it makes packs way more satisfying to open for beginners.
Guys... we haven't had a usable (Whisper doesn't count) 4-mana reanimator spell in ages.
When I first started this game, we had Zombify... then Rigor Mortis... then dread return... and unburial rites...
I don't think we've seen any real reanimator for under 5 mana (other than super limited ones like claim//fame or Revival//Revenge) since then... which would make it 8 years since straight-up reanimator decks (as opposed to the golgari value engines we've seen recently) had some serious gas.
And there are your ten-land cycle (albeit at common) that someone was complaining about in an earlier thread.

Smooth. Commons are reprinted time and again, and aren't even considered in this case, but, alright.

That lich is good especially at uncommon. A 2/1 flyer cantrip is limited fodder but good limited fodder.
