The first +1 on Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord dissuades blocking and makes up for the life loss. It's nice to see black get an Ophidian that feels black in all the right ways. And common? Whoo, I sure would've gotten this question wrong if I had to guess its rarity in one of the Great Designer Searches.
This is absurd. I mean, dang son, I'll be drafting this + Goblin Smuggler + removal all day everyday.
Hell, forget Limited, this seems good in a myriad of formats. Definitely could be a player in Pauper. Commander players could want this as well, because it's budget and allows you to repeatedly attack someone with no board and keep drawing cards. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see this hitting Standard either.
I'm glad to see the power level of commons creeping slightly closer to that of the ZEN/SOM days. I still don't think this is THAT pushed though. A 3 mana 2/2 does not pass the vanilla test. I'm not convinced I'd pick it over Phyrexian Rager. Personally I think the floor is more important than the ceiling.
having played with Spellgorger Weird quite a bit in war of the spark limited I have to disagree on the floor part. it's floor is a 3cmc creature that dies to removal, which isn't good enough for modern, but the tempo loss isn't that bad for standard and is completely acceptable for limited. I would even consider it in pauper because you have to work pretty hard for card advantage there although it has pretty stiff competition in Thorn of the Black Rose for black card advantage engine. Keep in mind the floor of Thorn of the Black Rose is you draw 1 card and then your opponent draws cards for the rest of the game. As long as you back it up with hand disruption and removal it should do work.

Please stop saying "it dies to removal" as an argument against a card. Pretty much all creatures die to removal at some point so this is no longer a valid statement.
Anywho.

Funny how it says it only has to attack and not deal combat damage. Declare attackers and then use things like Ebony Horse or something to that effect to remove it from combat.
Clunky yes but fun to try. And that's spectacular for a common. Very aggro-ish too for B.

This card is definitely good, but I think in limited it's usually worse than Phyrexian Rager. Yes, it's obviously better with Goblin Smuggler, but without that, you'll rarely get in an attack without losing him.
Dark Confidant is easily the best black creature ever printed. In no way, shape or form does Brazen Thief resemble Bob.
It's a black creature that can net you cards under 6 CMC. Let's not act like it doesn't have some valid comparisons. An Edsel is a better comparison for a Mustang than a Lear jet.

If they waste a removal on a 3 cmc common, jokes on them!

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

First off, DRS is the best Black creature ever printed. 2nd, this does resemble Bob. It plays like a common version of bob, and that's fine...FOR A COMMON
Surprised noone brought its closest comparison: stealer of secrets.
It has a better trigger but has the life payment downside. I also think black is a more powerful color for this effect because black has more removal while blue's bounce nullify the CA this effect provides.
I cant wait to play limited M20, so far it looks amazing.
