Why exactly? It's an 8 drop that. can draw cards in a 2 card combo or deter attacking you. There's plenty of 2 card combos that win the game, not just draw some cards. Now, it can draw at a decent rate with its ability, but that costs mana.

This feels like a mostly worse Griselbrand. I'm actually amazed it isn't mythic. For EDH, this is actually pretty great. This + Reanimate is hilarious, assuming it interacts the way I think it does. No reason to put this in over Griselbrand in Reanimator decks, though.

In EDH you could Aetherflux Reservoir one opponent which will draw you fifty cards to assemble another combo to kill the other two. The "problem" is there are a lot of free pay life combo enablers that make this guy amazing. You could even have him in the 99 in a deck and still do amazing things. With Treasonous Ogre you could generate mana and draw cards at the same time. I'm not saying I think this card should be banned, because I really like it, but there is a possibility because it combos with a lot of things.

Reanimate would resolve and drain you before the Demon is in play I am pretty sure.
You resolve cards in the order it reads. Thus the creature is put in play then you pay the life. I’m no rules expert but I think it works. I smell 2 mana draw 8.

12/7/2018 You lose life after the creature is already on the battlefield. Any abilities it has that interact with loss of life, such as that of Platinum Emperion, apply to that loss of life.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Choose any number of target creature and/or planeswalker cards in graveyards. Put them onto the battlefield under your control. Command the Dreadhorde deals damage to you equal to the total converted mana cost of those cards.
This is Legendary, and could therefore be in the command zone. Griselbrand was banned in commander. The obvious differences are that Griselbrand could draw you 35 cards right away, while this one you need to use mana to draw cards, or you need another outlet for losing life.
I do not think this will be banned in Commander. It will be watched, just like Razaketh, the Foulblooded... and just like Razaketh it will not be banned.
