Third version of it... I wonder if this is supposed to be in a post-eldrazi Zendikar or not.
In theory, with the Eldrazi dead or off the plane the Roil should have stopped.
Whoop! So happy about 2 elemental legendary creatures this set. Thought Yarok meant we would get a boring human who makes elementals instead of this beauty!
It feels like they took the original and tried to make the new one do the same things, but differently and in relation to it's new lower mana cost.
I mean, compare him to flametongue kavu. In limited, fk is better on many fronts. Or any green creature with a fight ETB ability. Omnath only gets slowly better than those. It's draw ability is too slow to matter much. As a commander, it's really unfocused.
Flame-Tongue Wedgend... seems good to me. Especially if you've got baby Chandra making house cats the turn he (it?) comes down. Not sure if the card draw effect will ever matter but landfall - buff a dude is never a bad thing.

The Zendikar story said even if the Eldrazi left the roll would continue. It was one of the major points for arguing against Nissa freeing them.
The coloring and lighting make it impossible(for me) to see if the land is chalky or bismuthy

I was thinking about this, too. Maybe the Roil just became super concentrated inside Omnath. The energy is just chilling, should the Eldrazi peak their hea...tent...skullboxes out, again.
I feel like he does stuff, but not enough. He does a little bit of things across the board, but overall he is not as solid as his last rendition. I would have preferred something that was more streamlined. Cool art though.

Roil won't stop until the land is healed, plus there's a lot of leftover corruption from the Eldrazi, such as the Vampires. There's what, three dead continents on Zendikar that need to regain life?
As for the card itself. I can see myself building an elemental themed commander deck around it with a decent amount of ramp to hit those eight lands ASAP.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

This new card is neat enough, but it makes me sad that they have apparently decided that the original with a really neat and basically unique effect should be ignored in future versions. new versions of cards usually reflect what the original did, at least in spirit, but Omnath 2 and 3 don't do that at all. I want another mono-green that cares about mana. not lands, not creatures, mana.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I'm a little wary about this because he's so tribal focused on a tribe that isn't really as focused or as well supported as a lot of the more popular ones like Elves or Goblins. Like Dusk707, I also wish that he supported his own abilities somehow. Mayhe he could have been a 2/2 and created a little 1/1 elemental before his damage ability triggered or maybe his etb ability could have read "target elemental deals damage equal to its power to any target" instead. That way his first ability would have more synergy with his second one while also not needing 3+ elementals on board already to be impactful.
That being said, I kinds like him. I enjoy his color combo and that alone combined with the draw landfall trigger makes me think he could at least be okay as a temur landfall commander.

Dude you'd be surprised by how many elementals there are. It's the first thing I learned building the tribe for commander. Currently I think they are the 6/7th most frequently occurring creature type out there. Certainly more than with either elves or goblins. They might not be as focused as other, more typical, tribes but I think being all over the place is their charm. If nothing else they kinda act like a swiss army knife of options in games with each one providing a tool. Granted this Omnath doesn't really provide anything new it still has some neat synergy with the tribe.
