I feel like they are really pushing the complexity beyond what a core set has traditionally supported. Between colored artifacts, protection and now Living Weapon... and I for one am kind of loving it.
Does this mean we have wolves to look forward to? Please tell me we are getting a viable werewolf/wolf legend.
Please, someone tell me it's time!
There is still 3 legendary creatures to be spoiled(that we know) GUB, RUG, and WGB
But it is not improbable there is more mono colored legends and 2 color ones too
So they're really trying to make wolves a thing...Arlinn and Tolsimir, now this...hmm...I've been considering wolves, but I already have too many green decks as it is and not enough other wolf stuff to make something decent...so far.
I guess coloured artifacts aren't considered too difficult for newer players if they're inserting them into a core set.
Not sure if difficulty was ever too much of a problem. Yes, older card frames made it pretty hard to distinguish colored artifacts from other colored permanents from a glance, but that was solved pretty early in MtG history, and I always thought the main problem was identity. Artifacts are Artifacts because they are colorless and usually have activated abilities with T. A colored artifact creature is not very different compared to a creature, and a noncreature artifact with only passive abilities is not very different to an enchantment.
I think the stance they are adapting right now is more on a power level thing. It's better to make a good card that feels wrong rather than a bad card that feels right.

Artifact Equipment 3G
When Wolfrider's Saddle enters the battlefield, create a 2/2 green Wolf creature token, then attach Wolfrider's Saddle to it.
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 and can't be blocked by more than one creature.

We just got Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves, which, while not a wolf, is basically a wolf lord. Hopefully they print more wolves for him at least.
Anyway, at first you have a mount without a rider, and then you have a rider without a mount.
This card reminiscent of Raised By Wolves.

It’s become a 5 color deck with a Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves as the true commander.
I’m looking forward to more and more wolf/wolf token cards. They thematically fit so well with the snow theme...
The flavour made me lol. Blessed be those who dare to ride the saddle.
