That hydra is kinda strange. They made it in a way that blink effects don't kill it, also if you blink it and have something like Good-Fortune Unicorn she can still have ETB working you either choose to put the extra counter (or double 0 counters just soo it don't suicide). The fight ETB is a death trigger for GG, and a scalable removal.
Neat card, even if it doesn't see play i think it is a card that at least has a space in cubes.
Hydra + hardened scales + panharmonicon is a 3 mana 8/9. Play it on turn 5 after panharmonicon, with X=3 and it's a 16/17 trampler.
OTOH, by itself, the doubling side gives you merely a creature that would be an average limited green uncommon beater. Funnily, if you blink it, the hydra comes back as four legs without a head.

That hydra is good at any point in the game. I expect it to see play in standard but I'm especially happy for more creature removal for mono green edh decks.

Agreed. WotC made creatures so relevant now in standard that I feel we need to see more fight cards in green to make up for their lack of creature removal. This makes me happy.

Seems like a pretty good card too. I could see it being cast for X=3 or X=2 a fair amount of the time just to pick off something small.

Love it.
Or, in standard, Hydra+Nissa, who Shakes the World
