Chandra, Acolyte of Flame 1RR
0: Put a loyalty counter on each red planeswalker you control.
0: Create two 1/1 red elemental creature tokens. They gain haste. Sacrifice them at the beginning of your next end step.
-2: You may cast target instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost 3 or less from your graveyard. If that card would be put into your graveyard this turn, exile it instead.
(4)
Chandra, Novice Pyromancer
+1: Elementals you control get +2/+0 until end of turn
-1: Add RR
-2: Chandra, Novice Pyromancer deals 2 damage to any target.
(5)
Chandra, Awakened Inferno 4RR
This spell can’t be countered.
+2: Each opponent gets an emblem with “At the beginning of your upkeep, this emblem deals 1 damage to you.”
-3: Chandra, Awakened Inferno deals 3 damage to each non-elemental creature.
-x: Chandra, Awakened Inferno deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker. If a permanent dealt damage this way would die this turn, exile it instead.
(6)
I like that they synergize with one another, and unlike most Chandras, they aren’t terrible on their own. I also LOVE Anna Steinbauer’s art on the younger Chandras.

Not sure whether this indicates a 15-planeswalker set with five vertical cycles, or just a 7-planeswalker set with only the spotlight character getting the full three cards and future core sets having, e.g., triple Ajanis or triple Jaces.
I can't say I like the art on the uncommon and rare Chandras. Well made, but her face looks horrible and the fire looks more like cotton candy...
On the other hand, if they are trying to push red away from "red rush" and "red deck wins" strategies, I'm all for it.

They are Chandra at younger ages, Uncommon is her shortly after sparking, rare when she's a late teen, Mythic is her as an adult. All are while she is at the Monastery. It's pretty obvious progression. So of course the art is going to reflect that.
Honestly I like them. It looks like they're going to focus on her back story this set, and I am all for it.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

I think it might be this since Chandra already has a transform walker card which is what they have used in the last two core sets for key characters.

O well some points:
-origins all over again
-uncommon and rare walkers that looks really playable (I know they are the first spoilers, the ones to hype the set)
-mythic walker with static ability and 3 other loyalty ability
-rare Chandra has one effect that is desirable in modern much like litle Jace from origins(but not mythic rare), and the elemental tokens can be relevant too
-big Chandra wins the game in 6 turns with her + ability, her and liliana dreadhorde commander both are gamewinning if let alone liliana is better vs midrange strategies, Chandra is better vs control strategies
-please can we move on off the gatewatch, there is soo much variants of those characters alread, can wizards please stop making the usual members in main sets after core 20? Like make them in the intro decks of the collection if they are in the story of the block/set, make new and interesting characters as main sales of the sets, Comeon we they will stop printing new jaces and Chandras after we get the 100th new card of each of them?
-I like those 3 Chandra cards, really, just tired of soo many cards with just those characters, think they could save cards for them in the main set when something really special happens to them, the last 4 jaces and Chandras has nothing of special, liliana at least was commanding a horde of zombies last time we saw her (her other cards tho are kind of the same), Gideon at least had a sword that could exile things(but aside ally of zendikar his other cards are kind the same, tho he has less cards), Nissa (?) (well that is other level of same kind of card being printed over and over again, with her amonkhet card being very distinct from the others at least). If we look at ajani he has at least 3 styles of cards, not the ideal but at least it gives depht to the character, garruk has 3-4 styles, Vraska 3, Sarkhan 4, Sorin 3 (or almost). Those characters have diferent style or archetypes of cards but they have less printing than gatewatchers, those have like 4 each but 5x more cards in sets
I find this to be neat to see Chandra at three different stages of her life. My only complaints is that the order (from youngest to oldest) is Rare > Uncommon > Mythic, which seems weird. Also I wouldn't be surprised if Chandra is the only Planeswalker getting this treatment as she is the flagship Planeswalker of the Core Set (sort of like how Bolas was the only flip card in Core Set 2019). Either way I'm excited. Only wish her triumph spell was better.
My personal favorite of the three is Chandra, Acolyte of Flame. While all the abilities work great on their own I really appreciate how different she looks to play in different decks. In burn she can flashback burn spells. In a sacrifice deck she creates two elementals perfect for Priest of Forgotten Gods. In a red-based superfriends deck she is basically Ajani, pumping out tons of loyalty counters each turn.
Chandra, Novice Pyromancer is the one I am most curious about once the rest of the set is revealed. It looks like it has a decent floor since it both ramps and deals damage pretty effectively at worse. The real key is how many elementals we are getting in Core Set 2020. If there are a few good ones I could see a Chandra/Elemental Tribal Deck with things like Chandra, Acolyte of Flame and Runaway Steam-kin to good effect.
Chandra, Awakened Inferno is definitely powerful (one +2 activation and you have inevitability), but the least exciting of the three. Clearly meant to be a finisher for a control deck with red in it. I do wish either her -3 or -X were something else. They are clearly meant to handle different problems, but I would've appreciated maybe an elemental creation ability to really synergize with the other two versions.
I like these cards, I like the art of Anna's Chandras.
Leslak has a point that having so many cards PW cards of each Gatewatch members make them look like pokemon cards sort of.
It's not a dealbreaker but yeah I'd love to see different characters. They got themselves quite cornered by tying the PW permanent type to the lore, because a "new" planeswalker has a lot of implication in the story so we can't have new ones each set or it creates "plotholes".
We never had this problem with simple Legendary Creatures.

It sounds to me, based on the article, that this three walker treatment is to help Chandra standout as the main character of Core 2020. The four other mono-color walkers, whomever they end up being, will likely only have their mythic card

All that focus on elemental-type cards makes me wonder if there'll be a lite elemental tribal theme to this set. Maybe we'll see Flamekin/Cinders in this set?

It's kinda goofy but I like how while the three Chandras definitely sync up with one another, they also sync well with the various Nissa cards because Nissa has a tendency to make Elementals as well.
Thinking about it... This set will most likely have FOUR Chandras.
Don't forget the planeswalkers decks!
Anyway, I wonder how much of Chandra's backstory are they going to retcon to make her look like the current Chandra instead of the Chandra who burglarized a sanctuary to get the Ghostfire scroll and burned it down just to escape.

While Chandra isn’t one of the PWs I want to see more of, I don’t mind her. She is at the least likable and “human”.
