Based off of Fountain of Ichor, it appears that Ixalan will be the next target for the Phyrexians.
I'm not so sure...the Dinosaur it becomes doesn't have wither or infect, so perhaps they just struck tar rather than glistening oil?
So tar is just able to animate statues now? Interesting.
Ichor (before now) is reference on 5 cards in MTG. Four of them are Phrexian (I'm not sure where Ichor Slick falls). This is likely some kind of hint at the future of Ixalan. It does also raise some interesting questions about the past of Ixalan. They had to dig to find it. How long had it been there? What caused it to be there in the first place?

Modern - UB Mill (casual)
EDH - Meren's Grave Shenanigans
Fountain of Ichor bothers me, it would be nice if it was a snow permanent (maybe changing the token it creates). This way it would be feel better in limited to have those snow casting costs Igneous Elemental Are they afraid of flametongue kavu?
Cave of Temptation nice ability, but would it hurt to have common non basic snow lands in the set
My Pauper cube is getting so many updates! So many "strictly better thans" at common!
They probably could have named this set Pauper Horizons and it'd be pretty accurate. There are loads of really strong commons in all colors. I think this will really give paper Pauper or Pauper cubes a real good shot in the arm.

Well, considering what tar is made of and what happens to animals when they get stuck in it, it probably could on Ixalan, but that'd be getting into baseless speculation territory. It's still one of those things that makes you go "hmm".

Why there is an almost better sprout swarm that doesn't make saprolings? WE WANT SAPROLINGS
(well, maybe not "we" but just "i"... but i have to keep faith to my name)
What card are you talking about? I read through thre green spoilers twice and didn't see anything like that, but maybe my eyes deceive me.
I assume they are referring to Recruit the Worthy in W -- that caught my attention at first, as well, but no Convoke really makes this much weaker than Sprout Swarm (which is fine).

I really think the card is referring to tar or oil, and if it is oil, it's just the oil created from dead Dinos and other organic matter from Ixalan. The flavor text frames it as crude oil, like when someone digs for water and hits black gold instead. It could also hint at the corruption briefly mentioned on a few cards in the block regarding something dark on Ixalan, which was also hinted to be the Bat God.
Did a double take too on Fountain of Ichor
I'm unsure if it's just using the term as a generic one for oil/tar. As I feel they could have named it as such/differently, and the fact it appears to animate an artifact dinosaur is such a strong link. Ichor was used on a lot of phyrexian related cards, the fact it says something differently entirely seems more ominous than them simply hitting oil to me. Of course the flip side is, if it was meant to be Glistening oil, why is it they have to dig deep for it, and it not be starting to appear on the surface of the world, which is what it seems to generally do. Lets them just hint, let people speculate, then use it in future if they wish to, phyrexian dinosaurs would sell..
Something else to note about Fountain of Ichor is that it can turn into an artifact Dinosaur... and Phyrexian oil generally turns non-artifacts into artifacts and vice-versa. So... I certainly fall into the 'Ixalan's getting invaded' camp.
Or just a reference that oil and gas are popularity thought to be made of dead dinosaurs.

yoooooo Winding Way is like a mini Lead the Stampede. didnt think the only card im really considering adding to my elves deck would be a common from the draft chaff (well maybe the green force as well).

Modern: UWGSnow-Bant Control BURGrixis Death's Shadow GWBCoCo Elves WCDeath and Taxes (sold)
Winding Way and Generous Gifts seem to be the notables.
A strictly better Mulch is quite something, and mulch in modern can even create archetypes. Quite the unexpected pleasant surprise. And whoever compared this to satyr wayfinder go read the card again.
A White Beast Within probably wont see constructed play, but it just might and at worst will be a nice cube/EDH addition.
Phantasmal Form Kinda caught me off guard too. You can kinda read it as sacrifice a creature, destroy target attacking or blocking creature, if it has indestructible put it into the graveyard instead. Draw a card.
It obviously has its downsides, but also its upsides when you play merfolk f.e.

Anyway, there are a lot of noteworthy Commons for Pauper here. Overall a pretty exciting set, can't wait to do some brewing with the cards here.
