Ooof. This is awesome and I expect it to see maindeck play in creature toolbox decks and sideboard play all over the place. In EDH and Oathbreaker this has wide application. Sick card!
On some level, MH is the modern hate set. Normally, standard set sprout on or two hate cards max. This set keeps adding new efficient hate at what I consider an alarming rate. No deck will leave unscathed. To me, magic is not about hating out other deck but building better decks. I hope I'm just chicken littling, but I feel a bit depressed how many decks I have that are getting hit left and right here.

I think the agenda is to produce enough hate/safety cards that it warps the meta, rather than having to use bannings.

Which is a better, imo, than constantly putting power into the format, and that goes for every format. These “hate” cards won’t hate decks out of the format, at least established decks, but will force them to adapt and make better decisions in the deck-building process.
From there, it opens the door for other decks that don’t feel the hate quite as much to get their foot in the door.
This set has been phenomenal in just not building upon established archetypes. Tools have been introduced for a few new decks to pop up and possibly make a splash.
Well, your opinion is as valid as mine. It's not boil-level hate, but it is still more hate. My beef is not the concept of hate cards as much as the quantity we're getting. It' snot just adapting to one or two cards but to an big wave. Humans get hit on vial, on human (Yawgmoth) with the new engineered plague on leg, and probably a few more I'm not recalling right now. Other deck have roughly the same level of additional hate printed. I don't find it healthy to get so many at the same time.
I'm also m annoyed by the set as a whole on my budget. I'm not currently buying a box, yet I can plainly see that all my decks will have to change and have new costly additions to buy. Just the new two-color lands will be a huge addition to my buy list that won't be filled for a long time as I expect their price to be high. An it' snot like buying a box would help, as one gets one-of of a few subset of the new rares and mythics.
So, modern just got a price hike due to possible new influx of players vying for the same cards, my decks will be forced to change so more cost on me, plus new cards all the while my decks will get worse. It's just too much on my wallet.
If at least there was no so much hate, I could just ignore most of the set and keep on. I'll see the aftermaths of all this in a month or so. Maybe it won't be too bad.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Want to play a UW control deck in modern, but don't have jace or snaps?
Please come visit us at the Emeria Titan control thread
We now have this effect as an artifact, enchantment, creature, and planeswalker. Find that kind of cool.
This is one of my favorite movies of all-time and spot on!

More viable decks the better.

As for the card, safety valve for Tron and other artifact reliant decks.

Not entirely sure why you'd run this in a Vial deck, but then I don't play Modern.
