This could be the origins of slivers in one plane. Do you guys really want to belive that forms of live completely natural and equal to one another can't be born into diferent places that have similar eviromental conditions? Like we have infinite worlds and slivers must be originated from only 1 world...? This is madness lol
I preffer they leave the origin of a high adaptve species open and have some variations from plane to plane, for ever bad design slivers (as the majority on shandalar) we better get 4 slivers with the classic look.
Maybe later we enter in a plane with some Trilobites slivers or slivers with some other creature type, i would find it great to have one "original" creature of magic not be non existent in the whole multiverse of the game. Let slivers be plural among the multiverse don't fall into the trap that wizards almost set up saying that all kors came from zendikar (if it was said just from dominaria-rath then it is ok)
I mean, it really depends on what you're doing with it. This thing + Hivestone + any other creature with a nifty tap ability could be a lot of fun. If you've got plenty of mana to spare This + Ameboid Changeling = all your base are belong to us.
Whatever combo this thing gives you is unlikely to be game destroying, but it'll be that other thing we play MTG for, "fun".
People calling it bad vigilance seem to miss the power of untapping things.

I personally think this gets as much play and is useful in any Sliver deck build as Mistform Sliver gets used. But I’ll wait to see if I’m proven wrong.
Staying in tribe it lets you do all sorts is silly tap things over and over again. While most of the tribe grants an ability to every other sliver anyway there may be corner cases where it's worth it. Untapped non creature mana can be used for more tap abilities.
Unless I'm missing this...it isn't an infinite. Because Training Grounds and Biomancer's Familiar and Heartstone can't reduce a cost below 1, the sliver will just tap and untap infinitely. You'd need to add another combination piece to this puzzle. The shortest route is either...
Hold on a minute, The First Sliver looks nothing like this nor is it a trilobite.
Evolution is a complex matter
I hope they will explore slivers' origin in some articles

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Come to think of it, why doesn't it turn all other Slivers into Trilobites? They are supposed to share everything with the hive.
First would be the Sliver Overlord, which is a Sliver Mutant.

Not even close. Sliver Overlord, Mistform Sliver, Fungus Sliver, Spectral Sliver, and Construct Sliver all had an addictional creature type.

Sometimes I feel like too many MTG players over-analyze things like this, but in reality, this is all we need to know:
Sometimes the game just needs a weird creature type combination, to help remind us we're in an extremely weird fantasy setting.
Unless I'm missing this...it isn't an infinite. Because Training Grounds and Biomancer's Familiar and Heartstone can't reduce a cost below 1, the sliver will just tap and untap infinitely. You'd need to add another combination piece to this puzzle. The shortest route is either...
- Add in a Wake Thrasher, which gets arbitrarily large.
- Add in a Mana Reflection, which does make this provide infinite mana.
- Add in a Mesmeric Orb to burn your library to nothing, then win with Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac
- Instead fuel the mana engine with Earthcraft, which can then allow you to use any number of cards that can boost the mana of a single land.
There's even more janky stuff too by using Arcane Adaptation/Conspiracy/Xenograft to, say, turn Stonybrook Schoolmaster or King Macar, the Gold-cursed into a sliver, but that all seems like a reach.
Much more interesting in the average sliver deck is to use this to get "double duty" from Magma Sliver or Telekinetic Sliver.

Jokes aside, I've always liked Horseshoe Crab so this is pretty cool. Maybe you'll be able to combo off with him in the future.

Yeah, slivers has always helped remind me that we are in a weird fantasy setting.
anyway, my comment came from the flavor text of Spinneret Sliver - they gain abilities of creature they eat.

Edit: whoops I misread Gemhide sliver
Pretend those legs are a multitude of Sliver arms. See the resemblance to The First Sliver yet?
Yeh I goofed it, goofed it on the scarecrow too. You're right. Still a bunch of junk you can do with it though.
