Modern Horizons will have 249 cards and 5 basic lands. It is the first set designed to skip over the standard environment and enter straight into Modern. All reprints will be of cards not currently legal in Modern.
I'm pretty much 100% sure this set will have new cards of all colors first then the reprints, again of all colors, so this linear way to number will not work very probably. supplemental sets works differently from standard legal sets.

I feel that’s kind of are hard to detect at this point and more cards would be needed. However, if I had to guess this seems so far not to use this pattern considering cabal Therapist is at 80 and it’s a black card. Unless this set had very few reprints I don’t see it be late in the crunch at 80 and only being at black.
I could be wrong again only time will tell and spoilers start today so we will know soon enough.
Also thank you so much for doing this crunch! I don’t play modern so I don’t really look at it. However I feel this set will have some good cards to use in my commander deck.

No, it's very easy actually. It's a rule that they consistently did for years since Conspiracy, and then they did it for all Commander editions since C14, Battlebond and Conspiracy 2...which is, all the supplemental sets that have new cards with it. There is absolutely zero reason WotC shouldn't follow the rule, this set fits all the criteria for this kind of numbering.

That doesn't seems to be a problem. Evidence showed that each year they are willing to push the percentage of new cards in supplemental sets (50+ from Commander sets, to 60+ of Conspiracy, to 80+ of Battlebond) and wouldn't surprise me at all if this set have a mix of reprints/new cards comparable at a Core Set level.
It is also totally possibile that the Cabal Therapist is so high because they could put extra special cards before starting from white. Like colorless but non artifact cards, like eldrazi. In Battlebond the "Partner cards" started before everything else, and in Conspiracy the conspiracy-type cards. So that wouldn't surprise me neither.
Yup. Apparently I was wrong. Very weird WotC break their own rules with this one. So it's impossible to predict now how many new cards we will have exactly.
Given the recent reveal of Force of Vigor I am predicting a cycle of Force of... cards. W Force: Lifegain is the safe bet with exile, damage prevention, or buffing as alternatives. Token generation could happen as well, but I feel this is the least likely. B Force: Most likely option here is creature kill, could surprise us by making it creature or walker. Other option would be some form of card draw for life (though black doesn't normally get instant speed draw so this is a bit of a long shot). R Force: Most likely damage to any target, though could make it hit creatures/walkers to give it a few extra damage. Could also copy a spell to do something different. A red based buff is unlikely. Land Destruction, while possible, I guess is a next to non-existent chance.

Red one giving your creature(s) haste (among other things? +Power and first strike too?) would make sense. The problem with most haste-granting spells is that they cost mana so you don’t get to cast them on a creature you cast on-curve. A freebie is the ideal scenario for haste.
The red one being burn but a bit over priced would be nice. Burn usually don’t have a lot of lands soo pitching it would actually be a hard choice but also could make a control player tap out at the end of his turn. White probably gives protection to your creatures or makes tokens, and the black one is probably a kill spell (that can target any creature probably )
With the reveal of Enemy Canopy lands, what do you think the chance are of finishing out the allied ones? If done in MH1 it would mean that Horizon Canopy won't get printed here, which would be a bit awkward. More likely I could seem them completing the allied in MH2, which would allow them to reprint Horizon Canopy as the 'all cards will be new to modern' limit will likely be lifted.
EDIT: It should be noted that the numbers for Fiery Inlet and Waterlogged Grove are guesses as the article had them both covered. Will update once the proper numbers are available
Based on today's reveals:
- an uncommon allied color pair land cycle appears likely, as there are 5+ open spots between Fiery Inlet and Snow-Covered Plains
- possible 6 card Legendary Creature Cycle: Morophon and Urza are both Mythic Legends, and there are plenty of older Legends who either need a card or would like an updated card. Yawgmoth would likely be the B legend. Unfortunately Don't know enough about the lore to speculate on the W, R, and G Legends could be, unless they count Serra as the W and the other walker as one.

Yeah maybe we can get a Mythic cycle. I feel Serra would count though as white already has 2 mythics with Serra and the Ranger Captain of Eros Mythic. As far as Mythic legendaries we may be able to say 7 if we include the The First Sliver. I’m not quite sure if the other Planeswalker will count as another color Mythic but I feel that can dependent on if it’s a multicolored walker or a monocolored.
In terms of other mythics, I think we will see two mythics for each color. We already got seasoned pyromancer in red and as a I stated Ranger Captain of Eros in white.
That’s 10 with 2 for each color, 1 colorless, and 1 Multicolored. I’m unsure how the other 3 will work and it will kind of depend on how they decide to count Planeswalkers and how many multicolored mythics we will see. Maybe we will see a Mythic land.
If Astral slide/Drift wants to even try to be a deck it needs the one mana cycle lands. Besides they’re oddly absent from modern for being an otherwise commonly printed cycle.
