Er...how is that thing real? A Plague Wind for planeswalkers for two mana and no downsides? Something tells me that thing is gonna get banned in many Commander groups, you can grief the entire table for a paltry two mana. Not to mention it sounds stupid-good in Standard, and absolutely busted in Limited, imagine playing dropping 2 of your walkers in Sealed and then getting hit with that, eating a 2-for-1 while your opponent also pumps their own walker.
And yeah, the art in Deliver unto Evil is amazing, feels as what some ancient chronicles would use to illustrate that part of the story, amazing job.
My comments: so with Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God and The Elderspell, all you need is UBBBBBR and you win the game. Kind of like a very dark version of Coalition Victory, but a lot easier to pull off. This is nuts.
No, I think you are misreading the ult on Bolas. Other players need either a PW or Legendary creature, not both.
Or you are assuming Legendary creatures are fairly rare, which might be true in standard. After this set, it might be more common to have a PW out than a Legendary creature.
Wtf? Destroy all creatures you don't control costs 9 mana, but destroy all planeswalkers you don't control only costs 2? Except The Elder Spell is even better than that because it also puts extra loyalty counters on any planeswalker you happen to have.
Yeah, this card is literally and deliberately broken.
What's the last time you had a board state with 3 planeswalkers?
What's the highest # of walkers you ever saw in play, counting yours and your opponent's?
Now answer this for creatures.
is it just me or does The Elderspell plus Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God seem bonkers. Like if you can do both on the same turn while there are already two other planeswalkers out from prior turns, then you basically auto win unless they have a legendary creature.

If you ultimate bolas with 8 loyalt out of a The Elderspell you lose the game if you have no legendary or other pw nevermind just oponents (edit)

...and people to have played two other planeswalkers to set you up (you're not getting Nicol to ult unless you the elder spell gives him counters which it only does if it mulches planeswalkers), and your opponents controlling no legendary creatures.
The elder spell is ridiculous. The planeswalker card type doesn't really need this kind of hate. I think I pass on playing any planeswalker in limited or at least not more than one at time.

What I meant was that it's a conditional "you win the game" effect like Coalition Victory's, and I picked that card on purpose because of the lore involved in both things. I know that if the opponent has a legendary creature out, it'll blank the ultimate for them.

Now consider the environment brought by WAR instead of the usual one. Broken card is broken.
No, the planeswalker you control is not targeted, so if you can't choose a planeswalker you control, the spell will still resolve and do as much as it can. You can cast The Elderspell even if you control no planeswalkers.

Well...except that (1) destroy all enemy creatures for 9 is ludicrously overcosted outside of basically only commander (2) decks usually play a lot more creatures than planeswalkers.
This card is a lot closer to something like rest in peace. A very efficient hoser for a specific deck (in this case, superfriends). Outside of that, it's just a more restrictive dreadbore that might not even have a target against some decks (in particular, WW and RDW usually run no pws to my knowledge, and are some of the best decks in the meta, so mainboard this at your peril if you play standard).

If you think the path to victory in this limited environment is *not* using planeswalkers... because of the existence of one rare... good luck with that.
the elderspell is fantastic and will help disruptive decks chase away planeswalker control decks :3
deliver unto evil seems like best friends with a bunch of cards that are already too good - intuition, doomsday, gifts etc

Why not? Walkers are just another permanent to destroy.

Hm although i initially also thought "Wait...what!" im not so concerned after a bit of thought.
Because yeah, its socery spüeed walkergeddon with upside if you have one yourself.
But if its against a single PW or you also have to ward of creatures you will still prefer Vraskas Contempt in most cases.
So only if Mass walkers will be a thing and you cant counteract them by other means (usually having more burly dudes then someone not playing burly dudes)be it bounce exile etc then you would want to consider being deep in black.
Will be a good tutorcard but if all goes wrong and walkers roam the land freely, we will be grateful for it.
You know, I think the casting cost of The Elderspell is supposed to hearken back to early Magic (it is specifically a spell from the distant past of Dominaria; i.e., early Magic) where the spells were quite overpowered compared to almost all creatures.
And yes, Shalai is a good counter to The Elderspell.

Consider the mana costs of the usual "destroy all [permanent type] you don't control". Yeah, BB is a lot lower than that, and that's the point.

So you're saying speculators need to jump on Shalai, Voice of Plenty?
