OK... Deliver Unto Evil... I don't care what the card does. THE ABSOLUTE best art I have seen in a very, Very, VERY, VERY, VERY long time. Seb McKinnon is now my favorite artist right next to Phil Foglio. This card could have said "Each time you pick your nose you lose 11 & 1/2" life and I would have loved it.
The year is 2003
Wizards print a brand new set called "Mirrodin", with a novel focus on artifacts as a card type to flesh them out in ways they haven't been done before.
Then they include this card;
The MemnaspellBB
Sorcery (R)
Any number of target artifacts lose all abilities until end of turn, then destroy them. Choose an artifact you control. Put either two +1/+1 counters or two charge counters on it for each artifact destroyed this way.
basically what this feels like
How warping can a single card be? It would be one thing if it was just a hoser, but instead its an "I win on the spot" in any planeswalker vs planeswalker matchup, encouraging you to use walkers and beat your opponents walkers, thereby creating a degenerate arms race around one card.
It reminds me a lot of original Innistrad, being a heavy “graveyard matters” block. And then they drop Grafdigger’s Cage on everyone. A 1 mana artifact that hosed an entire block’s theme. It was a powerful card that was used, but it was never banned.
Lol at “broken” target-specific removal. Powerful sideboard cards are self-regulating. Nobody mainboards Massacre
Can we stop with the absolutely ridiculous comparisons? Plummet? Massacre?
Neither of those cards say "Destroy any number of <thing>, completely up to you. Make your <thing> better for each <thing> destroyed."
If your comparison isn't in that template, it doesn't belong in the "This new card is not as good as this old card that must not be broken because nobody uses it" template.
Everyone's freaking out because this slaughters superfriends. As a superfriends player I'm excited to abuse this in my own deck to get those emblems that make some of my walkers "kill on sight" when they hit the board.
I lose enough walkers every game that I'm not worried about killing some myself for certain ults.

The style is cool, but I'm actually having problem to appreciate this one because of how badly are the proportions and perspectives between bolas head and body, it just feel ugly to me. (compare this with the Dragon-god art and you see how the head is too big, the neck is too long and other issues that makes it aesthetically unpleasant).
Contrary to popular belief, accurate proportions are not the be-all and end-all in illustration. Ever heard of stylization? The "issues" you listed aren't bugs, they are features.

As I said the style is cool, and I am myself a huge fan of McKinnon abstract art, yet I still find this particular piece of art a miss, because it just doesn't feel right for my personal tastes. So, of course I know what is stylization, but how that should forbid me to have my subjcective negative feeling with Bolas proportions? You are questioning me like if having a different opinion and personal point of view wasn't legit at all. To my eyes the bad proportions here makes the art worse, but if you feel it's a feature, well good for you I guess.
I see The Elderspell and even if it's ridiculously broken, I don't care....
I just go ahead thinking about the crazy jankyness you can achieve with it.
1: Have any gideon in play.
2: target him with Spark Double
3: transform the copy to a creature and target it with Mirrorweave
4: cast The Elderspell and laugh like a madman.
jankyness for everyone.
Doesn't work. You can't target a legendary creature for all other creatures to turn into, and planeswalkers are legendary, even if they turn into a creature.
I lose enough walkers every game that I'm not worried about killing some myself for certain ults.
Yeah, I suspect this card will see as much use finishing off your own uncommon planeswalkers to fuel an instant-win ult as it does hosing an opposing superfriends deck.

That's true, fair point. Since that's the case though, you wouldn't even get to cast The Elderspell because turning all other creatures into one that's also a Planeswalker means that they immediately die due to having no loyalty as a state based effect.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Yeah, it's like saying that you don't like Salvador Dali or Picasso paintings because they are not in proportion. It's just an artist style, that is either going to be loved or not understood by some. I'm not saying your perspective is wrong for yourself of course, just that you'll have to understand that it's actually part of the reason that people will like it, including myself.

Loyalty is a copyable value. When they become copies they would have the printed loyalty of the planeswalker.
Edit: Did more research and learned that this isn't true... Since lyalty is only added as they enter the battlefield
Yeah, it's like saying that you don't like Salvador Dali or Picasso paintings because they are not in proportion.
Except that all other piece of Magic art he made are drawed in right perspective and proportions and that's why I feel especially disappointed to see such take on Bolas body here.
Salvador Dali had a surrealistic take on art and still was a master of realistic traits, depth and perspective, not any amateurish kitsch art.

Dude I dont "need to understand" anything, because I can see very well that apparently you guys like what is at my eyes a disgrace of proportions in this art.
Apparently, you are the ones here that don't understand that mine was just a personal opinion that is perfectly legit and respectable exactly how is your opinion on his art, and how this very specific piece of McKinnon art feels so out of place for me, considering that normally he actually draw in right and realistically proportions, and that's why this take of Bolas bugs me so much.
