I like the idea of using God-Eternal Rhonas with Ilharg, the Raze-Boar 12/12 Trample and a 5/5 Deathtouch at turn 5 or 4 with Haste. That's a pity it can't take advantage of Vigilance.
For the card, it is green and says double, so thumbs up. Doubling the whole squad? Very nice. Vigilance so you dont just die on the crack back in Multiplayer edh? VERY nice : )

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
And as he wept, his tears turned from heartbreak to rage, and Rhonas spat the foul name, his dying heart filled with fury and pain.
Nicol Bolas.
As darkness crept in on the edges of his vision and he felt the last ties of his spirit to his physical form disintegrate, Rhonas looked upon the gruesome visage of the (scorpion) god behind him. And though his bodily eyes already filmed over with a milky white, he saw the god's true nature—the tiniest flickers of flame in its heart, surrounded by utter darkness, the original light and soul of his brother buried beneath vile corruption. This god was once one of the original eight, corrupted and repurposed to become a slayer of the very siblings he once held most dear.
"Brother," Rhonas whispered.
Rhonas felt the scorpion's stinger retract, felt his muscles spasm and tense, felt the quickening approach of death. And his heart broke: for his three lost siblings, for the mortals who perished, for those he guided in supplication to a foul falsehood.
And the Strength of the World faded, his immortal light sputtering in the consuming shadows.

And now I'm ****ing crying.

"I'd rather die speaking the truth than live a lie." --Gix, to Yawgmoth (pre-Phyrexia)
Except Bontu is like Reprocess, Ilharg is like Sneak Attack, and Rhonas is like? Uhh... Nothing, really.
Sometimes cards are like other cards without intentional reference. And that's actualy quite clear from comparing Ilharg and Sneak Attack already - they have as much in common as they differ in. Two points don't make a pattern either.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

The correct play is obviously to play Rhonas with your mana. So Ilharg gains vigilance and double power/toughness and use the sneak attack to play Spark Double as a copy of Rhonas for quadruple power/toughness this turn!

For the great Miss Y!
I was hopin Rhonas to have a fight-theme. This is quite boring, but potentially an Overrun + 5/5
Gruul Spellbreaker 8/4 Trample !
Ghalta 24 Trample !
SteelLeaf 10/4 problematic to block ! Phoenix 8/3 Flyer !
I hoped there were more Tramplerz d:(
Well Ilharg in the same Deck 12/6 Trample & Ilharg grants repeatable Rhonas-triggers if not stopped! These 2 belong ij the same Deck & have nice synergy.
Yeah that's much better Overrun in an eligible Deck. New Domri adds another +2 Powa
Love Rhonas and Green stompy decks. This card makes me think "Please don't have settle, please don't have settle, please don't have settle"
Settle only stops him temporarily, he come back to do the etb ability again.
Worse case scenario that all other creatures got settled... zombie Rhonas himself is still a 5/5 with deathtouch.

Oh yeah that's right! still, the board he's attacking with is gone and he can get countered when you play him again. Settle isn't so prominent in decks as of late, but I have a feeling it'll pop up in popularity again given some of these attack bombs.
Still, I think it's an awesome card and I'm going to be playing some green stompy again for sure!
Countering and discarding are one of the few ways to get rid of god eternals. What format are you going to use him? Few decks in modern have counterspells that counter creatures.. might be different in your lgs, but over here the counterspell I often see is only stubborn denial that does not hit Rhonas.
And just one more about the settle thing. The opponent needs to have the settle and another removal for Rhonas. Because he does not have haste.. the ones who will get settled are the creatures that he pump. Then next turn he attacks.. opponent needs to have another removal.

What's to stop you from playing gruul and having Rhythm of the wild Which prevents counters and turns Rhonas into a haste creature or a 6/6. Though I do wonder if this is modern playable..

I don't think this is modern playable because it doesn't replace Craterhoof in devotion/other small create decks and its curve is too high for some sort of gx aggro deck. Vigilance < Trample when your trying to win the turn you play it.
Requires a board. Vivien deck? No problem. Vivien's arkbow is a pretty strong finisher with this. Oriterally, any vivien... Reid. It's a 6 or 7 out of 10

Yeah, it was sad when he died. But can't be helped, he fought The Scorpion God 1 vs 1.. took a whole lot of people to take that thing down.
Settle only stops him temporarily, he come back to do the etb ability again.

I'm guessing this was actually a conscious flavor-driven decision.
In life, they had names because they had their own purpose in life. In death, the serve Bolas and nothing else. Their names serve no purpose now.
I was surprised he let them keep their names at all... Remember these guys? They were Amonkheti gods too.
I'm thinking of a casual deck deck with him +Rancor + Lure.
