I mean if you find a way to blink him or kill him off (sac outlet) he’d work. Otherwise, he’s a one hit and then a 5/5 beatstick. Same with Bontu since they’re abilities are only ETB. Could be useful as a commander though if the deck is built correctly.
If you sacrifice Rhonas to Vannifar's ability, then his ability will trigger and go above hers on the stack. So Rhonas will be put into your library BEFORE you search and shuffle.
I just got the opposite answer in the thread about Tamiyo...
But Rhonas is shuffled indeed. Maybe the other guy missremembered the activated ability.
The cost of the ability is tap and sac a creature.
Then it goes into the stack.
Because Rhonas went into the grave you get to put his trigger on the stack.
Rhonas trigger resolves first.
This made me realize that this cycle's names would have been much more impactful if they were formatted as "Rhonas, God-Eternal"
They kinda lose their identity being first god-eternals and seccond having a resemblance of a forme identity. They kinda becomed just another pawn to bolas. At least they didn’t lost their identity completely like what bolas did to the 3 gods in hour that have no name, just the animal their are now based off.

This probably averages to +3/+3, meaning its very similar to Overrun and similar effects. Would I play a +3/+3 and Vigilance effect at Sorcery Speed for 3GG? Probably not. Attached to a 5/5 Deathtouch that is nigh-impossible to kill? Maybe. Pretty strong card especially in Commander. He's going to be extremely scary both as a Commander and in the 99

So much for my Urza block inspired abilities predictions. You know, I'm actually surprised that Berserking your entire field wasn't something that happened in the Urza block.

A power pump that's curiously difficult to get rid of permanently? Just pretend that it's a throwback to Rancor and your theory is intact.
Wow. It's alright, I think, but definitely not what I expected. This is vastly different from God-Eternal Bontu and Ilharg, the Raze-Boar. I guess this cycle will be completely unpredictable. So far, though, they do all cost 3 + two of their respective colors. So we can probably guess that God-Eternal Oketra will be 3WW, and God-Eternal Kefnet will be 3UU.
I wouldn't say this is vastly different from Bontu. It is nearly the same structure, a 5-mana fattie with a strong (tide-turning or game-ending) ETB ability and the same recursion. I would say both are based on their prior incarnations - Bontu lets you sacrifice for card advantage/quality, Ronas pumps your squad. In both cases, the eternalized version takes an activated ability and turns it into a one time supercharged version.
If that's the pattern, then Oketra will create you an army and Kefnet will bounce (yours/opponents?) and/or draw/tutor. Maybe something different to separate it from Bontu. At the very least, I expect them to have a powerful enters the battlefield ability and of course the recursion.
So it seems it will be a cylcle of all gods being 5 cmc, and hard to kill because anything just put's them third from the top.
In some situations, this is scarier than Bontu.. cannot just repeatedly block it with 5/6 goyfs because Rhonas has deathtouch.

thinking again.. this version of Rhonas is actually very scary. I imagine to be on the receiving end of this guy... destroy effects and exile only temporarily remove him. And killing him allows him to use the "berserk" everyone ability again. Thoughtseize and countering are some of the few ways to get rid of these new gods.

Why does this matter? Vannifar grabs equal to make cost + 1. It's not like you could sac Rhonas to fetch Rhonas.
when they are on my opponent's side of the field.. would killing these new gods while I have Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet prevent them from coming back?
e: I was wrong. Your opponent, as controller of the affected object, chooses which replacement effect to apply.
I see.. Kalitas does not work. So thoughtseize it out of my opponent's hand is one of the few ways left for my BG deck to get rid of this corrupted god.
WoTC really made them strong. This is even better recursion than what The Scorpion God had.

I thought it would be logical to have them renamed to “The Snake God” but then it feels a bit of a repeated gimmick.

He stole a trick or two from another green god

Turn 1 Llanowar Elves
Turn 2 Rhythm of the Wild
Turn 3 Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
Turn 4 God-Eternal Rhonas + Ghalta, Primal Hunger
You'd have to cast God-Eternal Rhonas first to get 10 power for Ghalta, Primal Hunger, but that's still 28 trample damage on Turn 4..
-OR- as somebody already pointed out in Ilharg, the Raze-Boar thread..

I like that they actually said “double the power of each creature”
as opposed to something much clunkier like they have in the past.

Yes. By the time Rhonas would regain its abilities it'd already be in a different zone. The tuck trigger would never go off.

yes it does. They lose the seccond triggered ability.
