Ral was manipulated to build the Interplanar Beacon , he never officially worked with Bolas. Dovin, Domri, Vraska and Kaya actually are in on the game from everything I understood, but Kaya will switch sides and Vraska is a sleeper agent.

an excerpt from the novel states that Ral is trying to unite the guilds on orders of Niv to stop Bolas. As recompense Ral will become Guildmaster, and I assume Niv gets to become Guildpact as we've seen on his leaked card.
So the x2 Expansion loop is pretty sweet, but can someone confirm that this works too: you minus Ral, then continue your turn. If at any point your opponent plays a instant/sorcery of cmc < 4 you Expansion it and can then use the Ral copy to start the infinite loop? In other words, once you minus Ral with two mana up your opponent can't cast spells or risk instantly losing?

What makes using Ral’s - to set off the problem is that you have to hope your opponent casts something during your turn. It would be easier to just use any instant or sorcery, cast 1 expansion targeting it, then a second expansion targeting the first one.
So with Kefnet now eternalized being able to cast lightning bolts (and have them slammed back in his face), is there a chance that he's become izzet ?
(In retrospect I suppose it could be Ral is just redirecting lightning from the area at Kefnet, but that seems like a weird flavour distinction on the card as a whole)

the flavor im sensing from the 3 cards is that Ral is being empowered by the Thousand Year Storm he helped create; hence the 'Storm Conduit' title and his outburst. So bending/redirecting bolts is just part of that.
