The difference here is that Yawgmoth was THE villain for magic and the ones that you mentioned were really just card names. The Ineffable was one of the names Yawgmoth was known by in story, so someone just being given his moniker just feels really wrong.

Sometimes the same adjective applies to two things. There are a lot of word choices in English, but they aren't infinite.
I honestly find this Ugin to be rather insane. Something that protect itself, can destroy just about anything, and it spits out tokens that draw cards no matter what while possibly killing something else in the process is just nuts.
I'm not sure how I feel about him being called the Ineffable now...And that he appears to be watching this all through an orb in the meditation realm rather than doing something about the war... And that worrying "...And now with Nicol Bolas out of the way" grin...
Ugin and Nicol - both Elder Dragon brothers are totally rocking this set. Not at all shabby for a pair of twins whose first words in life were "Ow" and "I'm stuck."
Calling it now, Ugin becomes the new villain. His goal would be something like merging all life into a single entity to shelter and preserve it. You know, something a white/green villain would do (yes, I realize Ugin is not white/green).
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Ok, this guy lets Tron go from powerful to ridiculous, the new Ugin and Karn tag team are a 2-card combo that locks you out of the game on T4. T3 Tron, Ugin, drop a free Manamorphose because why the hell not, draw a card, search for Karn if you didn't have him in your hand yet. T4,play discounted Karn 2.0, use his ability to fetch Mycosynth Lattice, slam it for just 4, have fun, no, not you dumbass, only me, because you're locked out of the game unless you had an answer in your hand right at that moment.:laugh2:
I love this new Ugin (self protection in 2 different modes + card advantage + useful static ability), but all the things you said don't require Ugin, Karn does them anyway.
Yet he's a Good Guy in the larger, Dumbledorian sense, where his perspective is on such a grand scale that he often acts in ways that seem mystifying, cold, or even inhumane to smaller, shorter-lived beings.
I also believe we are about to see the end of him. He and Nicol named each other as children. That was significant. They were born twinned together, and they share one fate.
My guess is that they will perish together in Meditation Realm.
Ugin having Ineffable as a title is great, and very fitting. And he’s definitely a good guy unless they want to throw some weird twist. Worst I could see is well intentioned extremist, but so far I wouldn’t even call him that.
Really hoping he stays around. I like him a lot. Granted I’m also not expecting Bolas to die, but even if he did I doubt it would kill Ugin. Bolas killed Ugin ages ago and it did nothing to Bolas.

True that, T3 Karn, fetch Lattice, T4 Lattice also works, Ugin is just icing on the cake. I wonder if the Karn+Lattice combo will show up in competitive Tron lists, if the new Karn makes it to the Tron 75 I guess it will, all it takes is sacrificing one SB slot for a brutal payoff that can lock the opponent out for good.

The opponent doesn't have a Lightning Bolt or Remand or creatures on board or artifact destruction or hand disruption to deal with this situation? Is the opponent just an actual goldfish in this scenario?

ye the oponent can use a lightinig bolt, but only before lattice enters the batlefield.

Sure, but any bolt deck has 4 bolts and their only real target in the Tron deck is either face or a planeswalker and since that Karn would be their only target they leave up 1 mana on turn 4 and bolt it. If it's a creature deck they then turn sideways for lethal or if it's a non-creature deck they have countermagic. Or they are a combo deck and then it's just two combo decks racing which seems fine.

In standard
But in tron modern and EDH that static ability is off the charts of powerful
Especially edh since we can get any mana rock that cost 2 and under down to 0
You know tin foil hat theory they are prepping up for a colorless commander deck for 2019
Spirits
Blasphemy.
He's not the only one in the set to borrow another's moniker.
Ajani, the Greathearted
Feather, the Redeemed
And now Ugin.

I wish I could like this a thousand times
Besides didn’t he trap the eldrazi titans the first time
Then again his anger on killing the eldrazi titans could be due to 2 less to destroy the worlds
