Viv, let's talk. Lupita Nyong'o playing you in the feature film?
Damn, that's spicy.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I don't see how the bear is a bomb. Sure it might seem like a slow format..but having to pay 4 mana for it to fail on a land or non-creature on top seems like a bad deal.

If what you are looking for is creatures or planeswalkers, instant-speed, not-limited-to-once-per-turn digging for them seems quite great on a common 3-drop with a solid enough body.
The key part of the text is the last line. The card isn't a critter or walker? You don't reveal it, and it goes to the bottom of the deck. Increasing the odds you'll draw something you really want with the next card in your library.
Seems like the kind of card that might be considered a bomb in limited a lot of the time. It's the putting the non-walker, non-creature card on the bottom, combined with the instant speed, and no limit on uses per turn, that makes me think this common bear might be considerably better than many think, especially in limited.
I think I'll replace Yeva, Nature's Herald with Viven for my Captain Sisay EDH deck. Viven cost 1 less mana(and is not the same CMC as my commander), allows me to cast mono white or colorless creatures with flash, and provides card advantage.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
the bear seemed pretty unremarkable until I looked at the rarity. I would have thought complexity alone made this uncommon. I suppose this set is going to be a real outlier in terms of mechanical complexity, learning curve and uniqueness. I mean, they just threw affinity on tezzeret in a set with no affinity or reminder text of what affinity does. Straight up meaningless to someone who doesn't already know it- but I guess, everyone has a phone to google it.
still though. 2/3 for 3 that has a card draw engine glued to it?? at common? People are so used to playing mediocre dumb filler beaters at common and wizards is basically giving us a pseudo-azure mage or Dimir Guildmage. Yeah its not nearly as good, its not efficient, it can whiff- but when you're getting that kind of lategame reach and hand refill to keep you steaming along in limited from a common, in green, you know you've got a winner
I think i love her static ability.
That's almost removal ! If not, it kinda protects her, since opponent will always be afraid of attackin into a big Flash-guy.
Her +1 looks weak. But Reach is exactly what green needs in my experience & vigilance still allows to swing & not lose a turn. So; still not the greatest ability. But you get what green needs.
-2 Here is the card-advantage. Diggin 3 cards should always find a creature. Also nice it remains secret what creature. To play well with Vivien's Flash. Also repeatable ability.
I like most that she's cheap, splashable, high loyality, grants needed Reach, pulls more Creatures, has a available abilities rather than an ultimate & mostly so; tricky Flash to insecure opponents !
Definately among the better & maybe best Planeswalkers so far in this set.
Yes, there's the flash for my Simic Wilderness Reclamation...and she comes with +1 Reach and Vigilance, so good, green needed that bump, especially for me since I face entirely too many black flyers in casual games and need something green to deal with that.

i like the character design but think that she was created only to die killing bolas (which would not be bad)
Also, another absolutely stunning piece by Magali Villeneuve. She's doing a pretty good job of becoming my favorite artist in this game.

I never though this day would happen I got to get walker cards from this set into my decks
This belongs in my animar deck in all levels
Arlinn: I've got a wolf.
Vivien: I've got a bear spirit that I can shoot from my bow.
