Well, I know what is going in my Mayael Commander deck, because a second way to put creatures into play from my library after using her would be great.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

I see nothing that says "activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery"...this has some serious potential.

Lapsed DCI Rules Advisor - Retired from playing but still hanging around
I'm not seeing it. I discard a card and pay the mana it would have cost to cast, only to *maybe* get a card worth the sasme or less. Instant speed is kinda good, I guess, but again, unless I play a deck with like 50% creatures, I may as well be throwing 4-5 mana and a card after ... nothing.
“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I mean...You virtually stop playing from your hand once this is on the field, right? Seems like it would almost always be correct to Vivi Vial critters in, at instant speed, with greater selection of what to cast. Early front-runner for favorite card, for me, alongside new Domri.
Oh man, this card is awful. You need a high density of creatures to play it (or else it's probably going to brick), and the payoff is still terrible. You pay two mana and a card upfront to do absolutely nothing, and then you pay another card in addition to gobs more mana just to maybe get a creature, and a random one at that. Sure, you can use it every turn, but you're discarding a card every time you do so too. That means the cards you're discarding are going to have to be really bad in order to ever make this thing worthwhile. You'd basically have to have nothing else going on for you.
I could maybe see this in a Yeva deck where you're already green, creature heavy, and never want to tap out, but the folks that think this is good need to take their rose colored glasses off for a moment. War of the Spark is full of awesome cards. This is not one of them.

What scenarios are people seeing here?
Discarding a land to turn into a creature, that you might need for a combo.

Discard a Griselbrand to find Karmic Guide type thing.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
1. You don't have to worry about counterspells as much
2. Madness/Delirium/Animator Enabler
3. Top-Deck vs. opponent becomes threat after threat after threat no matter what you draw.
It's basically Coco mixed with Azcanta in artifact form.
Not exactly a build around card for me at the moment but its definitely a strong tool to have in a variety of creature based decks.
Man, this is spicy. You can basically turn dead draws into more gas at eot. Fantastic card.
Edit: I definetely will want a copy of this for my Nissa Duel Commander...pitch an Eldrazi, get a critter, reshuffle my grave. Yeah, that won't get dumb at all.

drawning lands and gambling a land for a creature?
On an aesthetic note, the artwork looks great but the frame is extremely distracting to me. I didn't realize it was an artifact at first. The legendary crown thing takes up so much border space and appears to be solid green instead of having the same effect that colored artifacts usually have.

The discard can always be used for reanimation themes as well.
The fact that you can activate it at instant speed is also a bonus, makes it harder to attack into you.

Replace Griselbanned (and seriously, I don't think I ever saw a card get banned so fast) with Razaketh, the Foulblooded and you're talking my language.
On phasing:
1 extra creature for every Voltaic + WR you control at end of turn.
2. Madness/Delirium/Animator Enabler
3. Top-Deck vs. opponent becomes threat after threat after threat no matter what you draw.
