Man, this is going to BREAK Standard. Calling the ban now
You mean like it did when it was reprinted in M19?
Something weird is that Ajani's Pridemate has a version with updated oracle text in this year's White Challenger Deck but this version doesn't have "you may" for the life gain trigger...
both this and the one in the challeger deck does not have the "you may"

Huh, I could have sworn it way the other way around because they said they changed it to prevent confusion... :\
Asking important questions: if walkers can create replicas of creatures they know, does Bolas really need all these schemes with Planar Bridge to bring his Eternals to Ravnica?..

In theory you need power/mana do conjure these replicas (same way a player spends mana to summon a creature in the game), so having a board full of creatures at the ready leaving your mana open for massive spells is a pretty bonus.
Man, this is going to BREAK Standard. Calling the ban now
Dude....
It is in standard it was printed in core 2019

But seriously, the art is...actually what I kinda expected. WAR is being marketed as a sort of event comic, right? (Arguably, Invasion and Time Spiral blocks were also event comics.) That art looks like Rob Liefeld trying to draw a "superhero landing". Even his feet are obscured! "Chaturvedi, you're not an artist." doesn't have the same ring, though.
Oh come on. We have a mere 2/2 cat beating the crap out of these nasty 4/4 zombies. Isn't it great on its own?
Maybe Ajani gained life at least three times?

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
looks generic and uninspired, like it could be on any plane. its just a cat beating up some eternals, neat? i guess its an okay reprint. the story tease is... nothing special either. i mean, you don't have two whole sets and wreck an entire plane to make eternals and NOT use them when attacking another plane.
Yeah, where are the buildings? How can we see a completely serene and vacant sky? This feels like core set art. Though if part of the war involves planehopping or ambushing the eternal army prior to a Ravnica conflict, I could see this being a possible fit?

The exception that we know so far is Yanggu able bring Mowu with him between planes.
We know why this is? Post-Mending you can usually only 'walk with your personal effects, not even one other person or animal. I guess it's just a consequence of Yanggu's specific mage profile, and how that interacts with his spark?
Of course we all know the out-of-universe explanation is "cute puppy".
I mean, is Mowu just a dog (doubtful given that he can shift from "good boy" to "holy crap run away") or some kind of familiar that Jiang Yanggu can conjure at will? If he's just a normal dog, then he shouldn't survive planeswalking given that even the food Huatli took with her to Kaladesh was reduced to ash after she 'walked.
EDIT: Totally just noticed the thread title says "War of the Spork." Cute.
According to MaRo, Mowu is able to planewalk with Jiang Yanggu, as most PWs can’t bring other creatures with them, Yanggu is special in that way.
Is this really it today? Didn’t they say they were going to start spoiling “scenes” today during the invitational? Watched that thing all day hoping for more spoilers and got nothing.

Blake's article said "starting this weekend...", and it's only Thursday.
Actually, looking at the art, I can see what throws you guys off. It's absolutely anatomically incorrect.
Look at where his butt is, that's usually attached to the tail, right below. How can his butt be up in the air like that while both of his legs are already bent above his elbows? That makes no sense.
All I can say is that this had better be the last we see of the Bolas horns symbol for a lonnnggggg time if not ever again. It's like the Illuminati of Magic. It's everywhere!
'buster
You say Bolas is 'like' the illuminati of magic as if he wasn't depicted on the stained glass making a triangle with his hands around the eye carved into his armor while perched on top of one of his pyramids.
That was no accident- Illuminati confirmed!

So, does the flavortext settle the debate whether planeswalkers summon the creatures themselves or just mana copies? As far as I know, this issue has been kinda muddy up till now.

Troof. We know that Kiora summoned lorthos proper to fight in BFZ/oath (who was promptly roflstomped). Not too long ago so I think it's still cannon.
Majority of what we see the walkers using (ironically since the game is moving to more creature centric board states than early magic) is spells instead of creatures in most of the stories. The only ones who really bother to use creatures are lili (zombies) and nissa (elementals).

think we can include those:

It’s gonna be cards that’s 99% of the time that you say yes too that will get the erratation for arena

No, there will be plenty of room for "<insert character name>, Slave of Bolas" and "Ajani's Shamemate".
Finally a good white villain quote: "So, do I ever re-evaluate my life choices? Never, because I know what I'm doing is a righteous cause."
