I wonder if those walkers are going to be all new versions or perhaps we'll get a bunch of reprints that won't be Standard legal, kinda like the Masterpieces, because it sounds like Limited could become a snoozefest with everybody having 6 walkers in the prerelease and a similar ungodly amount in drafts, to say nothing of the implications for what has so far been an amazing Standard season.
I hope they reprint Karn and Ugin so the prices tank and I can afford to complete my Tron deck:D
Could be that Bolas is keeping Tezzeret off-plane as an escape route should things go wrong with the Immortal Sun locking everyone in.
Also, this just reinforces my belief that this set will have Fetchlands. Unless they reprint all the Shocks in WAR or make all 36 Planeswalkers not legal in Standard, this set will need some sort of reliable mana-fixing to cope with all the multicolored Planeswalkers that will be in the format. Spare me the usual reactions, I know what "they say". I'll admit I'm wrong when I'm actually proven wrong with a full set list.
The could always do a spin on Ancient Ziggurat. It could tap for 1 colorless or for 1 of any color that can only be used on PW’s. It’s a hell of a lot easier method to deal with a massive influx of multicolored PW’s than relying on Fetches. Like Ziggurat it could even be printed at UC.
From WotC: "What's more, each of these 36 Planeswalkers will have a planeswalker card in War of the Spark. (The card art will be different, though—in fact, these stained-glass versions aren't appearing on cards at all!) You'll have to wait for War of the Spark previews in April to see the new cards, but each booster pack will contain a planeswalker so you should have no trouble getting your hands on them when the set is released."
Why though? Why not make these the cool time stamped Planeswalker cards from WAR's Pre-Release?
I think it can survive buying a bunch of uncommons.
Truthfully, it's been dying since Planeswalker Decks, alt art foils, SDCC promos, and Mythic Edition boxes. This set is just forcing me to admit defeat.
Just a thought: Seeing as Teferi being in the Challenger decks would horrendously warp which ones sold, could we be seeing reprints of these standard PWs such as himself in War instead of new cards?

Unlikely, for limited balancing purposes. They will likely get the same treatment that legendary cards got in Dominaria. If the uncommon legendary creatures in that set were any indication, even the uncommons will be strong and interesting for their rarity.
Looks like each color, two-color combination, and colorless have at least two walkers each. The rest are Bolas and maybe some tricolor walkers? Maybe a five-color one? Here's a hypothetical list, based on existing cards, the stained glass art, and a lot of speculating:

Everyone else: Bolas (Grixis), Tamiyo (Bant), Teyo Verada (???), unknown shepherd lady (???), unknown hat lady (???), Sarkhan (???, needs to have red)
Tibalt been mono-red before so he might stay that way, Nissa could also show up with blue, Tamiyo could mono-blue since they aren't worried about maybe repeating colors and who know wtf Sarkhan is anymore.

Gotta say, some of these surprise me. Sorin for sure. But none more so than Jiang Yanggu. I thought they were going to be one offs to pander(not in a bad way) to the Chinese market and not be involved in the story.

Considering the timing with and interviews with Sanderson about Davriel Cane, I'm guessing they had a number of blank walkers in the set and when they could they tried pushed them in a head of time. I could see when they started the global series that they already had a basic outline of Jiang Yanggu that happen to fit with what the global series wanted. I can't source it but I guess Vivien has also been designed a bit of time ago. We also know Dovin and Kaya where made to fill the roles of guild leaders and then put into pervious sets as well, so they might have been planing all these walkers showing up for awhile.

-Bolas horns on Samut, Ashiok, and Domri.
-What is Bolas doing in his pic? Appears to be absorbing sparks to me.
-#4 may not be Elspeth, but it has a lot of her design elements, the glowing eyes may be something significant, like its a returned Elspeth
-All the little imps and devils in Tibalts pic, interesting, will he be a token engine?
-#12 most like Mu Yanling, similar the Elspeth, as similar design elements, the white hair and flowing powers and cloak make me want to say it is her
-Kiora is back and riding a giant leviathan looking beastie...nice
-Sorin with his vampire on
-Dovin has a lot of thopters
-Are there dinosaurs on Ravnica? Why is there one in Huatli's pic? How did it get there? Is it a construct made by Saheeli? Doesn't appear clockwork
-What is Ugin doing? I like that his horns appear in the stained glass in his own pic...should we be looking for more of them in other pics? Also, where is Ugin, because that background does not appear to be Ravnica, too open...and there are real mountains and water.
-What's up with the thopters in Chandra's pic?
-Appears to be a wolf rider in Ajani's pic...Selesnya colors for him?
-Notice Jiang's leaves aren't all bordered out individually...
-Arlinn's wolves eyes glow the same color as the magic coing off her fingers, kinda cool detail...see below...
Also to note...they said the stained glass pics won't be used, but if you look carefully, they all appear to have had the stained glass affect placed over an actual piece of art...some of the details cross the black lines too perfectly....so...does that mean the art has basically been revealed, just with extra layering? Hmm...I hope so, because they're all too good to not use. Most of them have an obviously Ravnican background.

My money is on this. There is no way you can introduce 36 new planeswalkers to Standard and not stuff up every other archetype. It just too hard to design balance in the format.
Also designing from an R&D perspective for 36 walkers is just way too difficult. They are on the whole going to be reprints for sure.
So this is confirmation that Wizards has decided to say F*** the collectors and F*** the players and f*** the secondary market because all the planeswalkers will be mythic and there will be an additional 15 mythics that aren't planeswalkers. (This is joke, but maybe it isn't since the set size and rarity distribution hasn't been announced yet.)
Edit: And, as always, only three of the mythics in the set will be playable.
I have buddies arguing with me Elspeth is 4. The armor isn't the same and Elspeth has black hair. All of the sudden she is strawberry blonde? Idk. Also I have no idea who raiden could be.

It's also entirely possible that a lot of these are reprints. I mean, we just got Kaya, Dovin and Domri in RNA. And Ral and Vraska in GRN.
To be honest, 36 packs, 36 planeswalkers kind of bothers me if some of them aren't reprints.
Rosewater essentially confirmed it by talking about the “Crazy” element in the set and alluding to it in other comments on his blog.

You would get every walker as a legendary creature trying to regain their spark after Bolas stole/suppressed it with the Immortal sun.
It would stop games from being grindy, limit mana issues, and keep you from having to print 30 new planeswalker kill cards.

Okay so I am not the only one dumbfounded by these two characters.
Seriously who are these two?
