hope a majority of those walkers (assuming it is a correct information) are new walkers/characters instead of the planeswalkers that we alread have a card of.
One thing that no one is talking about - the fact that it is two pre-release promos.
Okay - so I know Dominaria had two prerelease promos too - and that leads people to think that it is just the same thing... a planeswalker seeded in each pack etc...
BUT what if it is something different. We know Maro likes this set because it is innovative. This is the key to me. I dont think that Maro would be excited about a set that just has a lot of planeswalkers - I think there is something different going on.
We know that they can seed cards that go together (i.e. Battlebond), we know that there is a theme to the set of planeswlakers teaming up against one another. So... here are some thoughts.
1. Some relation between the cards. Maybe - Planeswalkers that when they 'lose their spark' trun into another card (probaby not because it would just be cleaner to do as a DFC). But what about some spell that you can cast for greater effect if you sac your planeswalker (i.e. a modal spell where extra super effects come from sacing a specific planeswalker - the trick would be you would need to have them seeded together). What else could they do with paired cards that care about one another that makes sense. What about a 'meld' type mechanic where you are guaranteed to get both cards in the pack? Maybe when you draft one you automatically get the other?
2. What about a commander type theme for limited. You can choose only one planeswalker to be your commander in limited. This would allow you to ensure that there were not too many planeswalkers for limited and would be an innovative twist on limited. Might be interesting as a one off to see how you might be able to freshen limited every now and then by changing the mechanics of limited in a fundamental way. Would also bring commander players into limited and get them to experience limited. Think of this kinda like what they did with the last unset with contraptions - they were testing it out there and now we are bringing it into black bordered magic. It could be something that leads to a lot of new ways to enliven limited by having different gameplay. Maro always talks about the gameplay of the set fitting the theme. If this set is all about war between two sides where the planeswalkers are fighting it does naturally lend itself to a commander type scenario feeling right.
Didn't they say there's a planeswalker per pack for this set? I'm wondering if there's a separate sheet for planeswalkers then, wherein you can only get a planeswalker in that slot and no where else, save for foils and what not.

There are 140 standard release planeswalkers in the game and pre-release kits are, by definition, produced in extremely limited quantities. One print run and that's it. It wouldn't be unreasonable to consider that this is the planeswalker masterpiece series that we were all looking for.
I don’t see Planeswalkers ever going to uncommon. They would have to be so weak as to be pointless at that rarity. Weaker than Tibalt is entirely pointless and I would prefer no uncommon Planeswalkers over bad ones.

That's quite literally why it's being discussed. MaRo chooses what questions he wants to answer, so he clearly wants people to know that it's possible.

God I hope not, more than half of the planeswalkers character have have only 1 or 2 cards (and many have less since the starter decks bump them up sum) and limited lore. Even as back ground characters or bulk walker cards it would be nice to see these characters more. From the book we have Teyo and the trailer hints at Davriel possibly appearing so I think thats enough new faces.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn at this point it was something like: 20 Uncommon, 10 Rare, 5 Mythic, 1 Box Topper.
inb4 WotC comes up and says: 36 planeswalkers?
There are 16 in the two mythic editions already, so you have only 12 here because another 8 are in the THIRD mythic edition.
I'm thinking more along the lines of 30 Rares and 6 Mythics. If there's a PW in every pack, they don't need to be common or uncommon, unless they're all part of a special sheet a la Timeshifted in which case "common" PWs are simply the ones that show up most often, probably PWs like Teyo with simpler skill sets.
5 Common
10 Uncommon
15 Rare
6 Mythics - Bolas will be among these without a doubt.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Why do i keep seeing the number 36? why do people think there will be 36 walkers?
There are 36 pieces of art in the trailer that have been confirmed to be in the set.
However, it has not been confirmed that they will be used on planeswalkers, nor has it been confirmed that there is a planeswalker per pack.
Also, MaRo says "never" all the time. Ask him if Onslaught fetchlands will ever be in Standard, for instance. Or if the Reserved List will ever go away.

That makes 12 unknown (1 of them is the new planeswalker with the shield magic)
It is safe to assume that every planeswalker featured in the mythic edition will make an appearance, this brings in:
Elspeth, Daretti, Sorin and Dack.
Samut could be there somewhere (she has all the reasons in the multiverse to want Bolas dead) and so could Garruk (who got a new art that was used in a poster iirc).
Narset, may be?
I would also expect Nahiri in there (if she learned from Nissa that Bolas plotted to free the Eldrazi, she is going to be majorly pissed at him).
One of them is surely Dovin, but seems I missed him (somehow)
Which leaves 2 spaces for brand new walkers?
Unless those 2 are Arlinn and Ashiok.
All this brings me to think that having them in masterpieces with their stained glass art would make much more sense than having 36 random underpowered planeswalkers show up from nowhere.
Isn't it veeeeeery convenient that we already have 36 living (if Elspeth in the underworld is still considered a planeswalker, then yes, she is "alive" at least on other planes) planeswalkers already? 37 if you include the new one.
What planeswalkers would wizards really relegate to uncommon?
...
Other than Tibalt, obviously.
And there it is.
I have been telling my friends this for a while. Artwork would feature Bolas murdering either a Planeswalker or Guild leader.
I feel like the five from Guilds and Allegiance would be prime candidates for Uncommon cards, too.

I'm not convinced of non mythic PWs and PW related cards in WAR.
Maybe they will include a guaranteed PW in each box, as they did with shocklands in DMZ.
Also, maybe a 1-mana PW bounce instant.
