Teyo- I think he will show up as mono-white since thier is a rough balance of two walkers per color pair and with Elspeth in the underworld, Ajani playing around in GW, a new mono white walker is due.
Tamiyo - She was UWG since they didn't want two mono blue walker in the same block and here thats clearly a differnt story (and they said they made sure all her abilities where U that crossed over with W or G)
Davriel- Sanderson (who wrote the novella) said he thought of Davriel as mostly BU (leaning more B) with a touch of W and if made into a card he play around with stealing spells from your opponents as well as personal reading I put Davriel in UB.
Tibalt-A lot of people from wizards seem to see Tibalt as RB and him leading the Rakdos devils and color balance makes me think he will be getting B added to his colors.
Ajani-While Ajani could be mono white his art with a group of selenyas seems to put in GW.
For color pie balace I think Nissa will reappear in GU and since it might show regaining her new world out look she had before the Hours on Amonkhet.
Walkers I'm more unsure on;
Samut- Because of Arlinn and Domri being less flexible I'm not sure if Samut will appear in RG or RGW (since her thing is being a speedster I think she will stay in GR but I could be see the speedster abilities in RW as well)
New walker 1- looks a lot like a WU walker but the art has been trickery in the past. I think she will have some U in her.
New walker 2- Again unsure maybe GW? BG?
Huatli- I think Huatli will depend on what the other two walkers do, she could go WR or WG since both color pairs are lacking.
Sarkhan- I think he will show up in R or RGB, we already have 2-3 walkers in the other color combos but only thing about Sarkhan is certain in R.
Narset- Since we have Teferi and Dovin (and the other two version and planeswalker deck ones) I don't think they would put another UW walker in. Hopefully UWR since her story in the Dragons timeline show that she still had a bit of a R side to her.

"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
I mean most of us are predicting 10-12 if you count colorless as monocolor. That is 33% of all Walkers. Do you think it will be higher?
I do. I think more like 4 of each monocolored and one of each color pair would seem likely. It would be too difficult to draft the set otherwise, unless it has a gold theme. But we know the set specifically does not have a guild theme going on so a completely different gold theme with completely different color fixing than Ravnica lands seems unlikely to me.

I could see Sorin in Mardu. The art shows a high amount of blood + he seems to be in a aggressive mood. Maybe he is fighting Nahiri and has the revenge-red now like Ajani in the past and Nahiri now. He is shown calm in his past representation Sorin, Solemn Visitor, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, Sorin, Grim Nemesis, Sorin Markov.
I personally hope that Gideon keeps his mono-white color but his art shows some black dust because of the sword. I don't know how relevant that will be. If he is Orzhov because of the curse than maybe Lady Proudmoore in mono white?
I could see Tamiyo in Simic or mono blue more than Teferi in mono blue.
Arlinn in the other hand could be a surprise. She lose the ability to transform into a werewolf if she isn't in Innistrad (if I remember correctly), so maybe she has no green? And Samut + Domri will be the Gruul walkers. She is still skilled in magic because she study Goldnight magic in Innistrad before being a Walker.
Narsets could be Jeskai but her arts display no red and is so much blue. I don't know. A 3rd Azorius walker would be strange. So maybe she is monoblue this time? With Tamiyo being simic? Dovin and Teferi matches the color so perfectly. I could see Nissa in BG because of the selfish act to protect Zendikar before helping other planes and leaving the Gatewatch.
Sarkhans picture is red. I can't see another color. Chandra and Jaya will be mono red for sure. I am sure that BR, RG, UR has already the 2 right Walkers. So he has to be in 3 Color? Temur or Jund? I don't know.
So we get 36 new Walkers and the with GRN and RNA they said, that they will color balance them in Standard. So if we look at the non-PW-deck Planeswalkers that are in Standard, we have:
I think it is pretty clear, that most Planeswalkers will not see that much play and many of them will not have the powerlevel of Vivien or Teferi. I expect many of them to be more build arround or minor effects and maybe just the Mythic ones to be really powerful. I expect to get more Planeswalker interaction too, but with Core Set 2020 most likely be color balanced as always and GRN and RNA color balanced too I think it seems obvious, that WAR is color balanced too for the most powerful ones and some nice Brawl Commanders as well as Domninaria was too.
My first thought was, that we get 2 of each color and 2 of each color pair, plus Bolas, Karn and Ugin so he have 3 places left. It would be interesting to see how common they will be, so maybe we get all with Rare or Mythic Symbol, there will be one in each booster, so we will get them more freqently. I expect 5 mono colored and 10 dual colored to be more common than the other ones.
But if we go through the colors, this doesn't seem to fit. The mono colored ones are kind of easy or at least it seems so (you can argue for Nissa being mono G and Yanggu getting another color, but Simic either way has no second obvious Walker so it might just be Nissa). The dual colored ones are a bit more complicated. I can see some color combinations more represented, if they address more different decks and not all go into one strategy (as they did with Dovin and Teferi). Huatli seems RW here, so we have UG, BG and GW as the missing pieces? UG could easily be Nissa, GW could be the one with the hat, but then BG has none... so maybe there will be more 3-colored Walkers with the enemy colored ones just having one cycle and we get 5 Wedge Walkers which could be a connection to Tarkir and Ugin (Sorin as Mardu, Sarkhan as Temur, Abzan could be the hat lady, Narset is Jeskai and then we got Sultai...)? Or maybe Grixis, Jeskai, Abzan, Naya and Sultai?
I think we can maybe see another Planeswalker as the Buy a Box Promo. I assume maybe Tezzeret or is he out of the story, because he is the Planar Bridge or knows what Bolas is up to?
RNA had 111 commons, 80 uncommons, 53 rares, and 15 mythic rares.
We know the set will have 36 Planeswalkers.
The easy solution to maintain color-balance is to give each mono-color and color-pair 2 planeswalkers. In total, that would be 30 cards. That will leave us with 6 remaining Planeswalker cards (of which, we know Ugin and Karn will be colorless, and Bolas will be three colored).
The easy solution is to allocate one uncommon and one rare slot to each mono-color and color-pair. The 6 remaining Planeswalkers would all be allocated a Mythic Rare slot.
This allocation scheme ensures we still have 111 commons, 65 uncommons, 38 rares and 9 mythic rares left over for anything the set needs beyond Planeswalkers.

Bolas and Ugin will be Mystic for sure but Karn? He is strong but I don't think that he is playing an important enough role in the story other than being there to protect something.
I can see Jace, Bolas, Ugin, Gideon, Liliana, Chandra, Ajani and/or Nissa maybe Vivien to be mystic rare because this characters have played a bigger role (excluding Ajani and Vivien but they have some story with Bolas) in the story arc. Jace being the living Guildpact should be a mystic rare card.

Don't poke holes in my carefully laid plans!
But in all seriousness, I imagine Jace and Lilianna will be a mythic...
For all we know, all 15 mythics could be Planeswalkers. Actually, if you did 14 Mythic Walkers, then you could split the rest with 11 Rare and 11 Uncommon Walkers. Then again, there are 53 rares, so they could just make every Planeswalker whom is not Mythic a Rare...
The PWs are going to get their own sheet. They have to because they get a guaranteed pack slot, like the Timeshifted cards in Time Spiral block and DFCs in Innistrad and SOI blocks. Yeah, I guess they could always include PWs at Mythic, Rare, and Uncommon in the set proper to allow a chance for a pack to include more than one PW in it, but it's not strictly necessary.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

The DFC cards all contained a rarity and ate up rare/uncommon/mythic slots. The Timeshifted cards were completely separate from the Time Spiral set in teams of slots (the timeshifted cards were like a set within a set).
Since WotC has not declared that the Planeswalkers are a unique subset, that means the Planeswalkers will eat up slots in the set.
You are correct, in that it does not really matter what rarity the walkers are put into, as each pack is guaranteed a walker (well, so long as they are not common since that would affect Pauper). So the real issue becomes how many slots do you want to lose for the walkers. That is why I think getting Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Walkers makes sense, since it more evenly distributes the loss of slots than making all of the walkers mythic and rare.
Of course we still have to put up with the Gatewatch this the Gatewatch Unlimited Moment Probably...well hopefully like Justice League Unlimited that means we see different teams of Gatewatchers not the same 5 or 6 all the time. The best team for the best mission so to speak.

They will get their own sheet, but their rarity is still relevant for two reasons:
1. It will affect relative rarity in that slot. Rare planeswalkers will show up in the guaranteed slot more often than Mythics and less often than Uncommons. This is how it worked in both Innistrad blocks and Dominaria and there’s no reason to assume it will be different here.
2. They do come out of the totals for the set. Dominaria had 15 mythics (not counting the Planeswalker deck Planeswalkers), which is the standard number for a set. 8 of those were legendary creatures that came in the Legendary slot, while the other 7 came in the final slot before the legendary.
Is there a reason you think this will work differently than Dominaria, which is the most recent implementation? Innistrad did allow a regular rare and a double-faced rare, but Dominaria seems to have made the system even more intricate and reliable.
I feel confident every pack will have a Planeswalker, those Planeswalkers will come at different rarities, and each pack will have a standard rarity assortment, inclusive of the Planeswalker slot. Just like Dominaria.
Well yes, 36 PWs and 121-card printing sheets are a tricky match, unless each PW is printed on their own sheet.

Sorry guys the gatewatch (power rangers mtg edition) is not ending anytime soon
So the gatewatch will still be around for the nex villain/phyrexians
Why does everyone assume that "Maybe :)" = Yes?
In the context of a normal conversation, I would 100% agree that the speaker is being coy and definitely means yes. For Mark Rosewater and his blog, however, "Maybe :)" is a default answer given to anything that doesn't have a definite no to it (Here's an example).
When asked if we'll get oath cards: "Maybe :)"
When asked if we might see the missing 5 swords of X and Y in Modern Horizons. "Maybe :)"
When asked this year if we'll get Kraken Tribal: "Maybe :)"
When asked if any vehicles will be printed in the next year: "Maybe :)"
When asked if Modern Horizons will have cards that combine keywords from several sets on one card: "Maybe :)"
When asked if we will get a crab lord: "Maybe :)"
When asked if we get an un-set with a Dessert theme: "Maybe :)"
Call me crazy but I kind of doubt that we are going to get all of these things. In fact, Mark has stated that he sometimes says "Maybe :)" on things that are definitely "No". Look for yourself
So yeah... players need to stop treating Mark's magical "Maybe :)" as a definite yes.
With that said, I feel that Mark really shouldn't have taken that question about the oaths at all. Given that people take his "Maybe :)" as a prophetic "Yes", giving that answer (instead of ignoring it and taking a better question) will lead some to believe that the plot has been spoiled... though the Chandra comic kind of did that already in this case).
MaRo said that with the new collation technique there is no need of separate print sheet in case like this (such as dominaria having always a Legendary card inside a pack regardless of rarity)
They can use the same exact method with PW so that 1 pw per pack is present but keep the PW on various rarity to balance them. The most probable distribution is 20 UC 10 R 6 MR

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again"
Did people really assume the Gatewatch would end with this set? Heck no! Even if some of the core members die, they will be replaced by new Planeswalkers. The Jacetice League is here to stay. The only thing WotC said they were going to do is print fewer Gatewatch Planeswalker cards (so it does not feel like we are getting new versions in every single set).
I could see Sorin in Mardu. The art shows a high amount of blood + he seems to be in a aggressive mood. Maybe he is fighting Nahiri and has the revenge-red now like Ajani in the past and Nahiri now. Glad to see someone else proposing this. I agree entirely that he'll have R this time. That's the angriest Sorin we've ever had, and he is out for redvenge on Nahiri. Plus there's the Edgar Commander deck that he'd fit right into just sitting there...
The only thing I'm not sure is if he'll even keep the W this time. Originally they said he was only really W where his duty to Innistrad was concerned, although Solemn Visitor being on Tarkir kind of went against that. He could still be BR though, but maybe Ob and Tibalt being in the set and both awaiting own their Rakdos incarnations counts against that.

The idea of a coalition of Planeswalkers is plausible. But eventually they’d fall out as they are so powerful that compromising with others would be unappealing. Maybe this set will actually be about Bolas luring all these Planeswalkers to Ravnica with plans that pit them against each other. I would love it if they were all fighting one another while Bolas just chills off to the side.

Sorry guys the gatewatch (power rangers mtg edition) is not ending anytime soon
So the gatewatch will still be around for the nex villain/phyrexians
8 mythics on the sheet once each, 14 rares twice each, 14 uncommons six times each. 120 total with a blank spot.
They can use the same exact method with PW so that 1 pw per pack is present but keep the PW on various rarity to balance them. The most probable distribution is 20 UC 10 R 6 MR
Or a 5 colour Jace-Guildpact-Super-Sayin-Bolas-Slayer.
