That ram is... brutal... 3 mana for a 4/4 vigi trampler??? ATLEAST? Can be up to a 5/5 for 3 if all your lands are gates. I am almost tempted to make a gates matter deck for the lulz

This aint your girlfriends meta! This is a man's meta! TURBO META.
So if I was building a casual Tron deck where like every card had to be under $2, so no karn or ugin or wurmcoil ... would this Sphinx be a finisher candidate? Immunity to most removal is a biiig plus.
That Sphinx is super scary for limited. Reach 7, get a 5/5 flier with almost-hexproof? At uncommon?
Very scurry in Limited. First-pickable easy.
I'm almost disappointed they didn't use a five-color indicator, but that would probably have been hard to read.
I wonder what this means for Transguild Courier. If they didn't print this with a color indicator, are they just going to remove that from the courier too to bring it back to its printed functionality?

Transguild Courier predates color indicators. It wasn't printed with one to begin with, so they may well default to that text style. The net effect is the same, though, there's not really any rules difference.
I wanted to to see the 5-colored indicator so badly. I am actually quite sad.
My best guess would be that the card receives a day 1 errata like Wastes. Because on the card Wastes has an empty text box, but on Gatherer is has " : Add C."
So I would assume that the Sphinx will not have "Sphinx of the Guildpact is all colors." in the textbox but will have "Color Indicator: White, Blue, Black, Red, Green" on Gatherer instead. Everybody understands what the card is supposed to do, so essentially nothing changes.
My guess why they didn't use a color indicator is that this card is uncommon and (less enfranchised) player would get confused when seeing a pizza with 5 slices in the type line.

That was kind of the point of the question though; Courier, in its Oracle text, *has* a color indicator now. Which is functionally different than a CDA defining its colors. Most notably with Muraganda Petroglyphs. I am not suggesting it is OP or even played, but I am curious if they will reverse course on the current wording of Courier to put it back to its printed wording.

Maybe but that seems odd to print it that way just to change it in the oracle text. Wastes was a little different in this regard.

Yes, for sure. If my eta had more fliers, i would be STRONGLY considering it myself, and I already have all the traditional cards. If removal is a big consideration, this thing is really excellent. if not, Steel Hellkite . I have Wurmcoils, and this thing is still super neat

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
A fun note - Eli on his twitter is basically saying they're reverting the errata of Transguild Courier to be a characeristic-defining ability as opposed to a color indicator. When they went to make the new Sphinx seen above, they realized it'd be illegible and very hard to parse.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.

Yeah, the Gate deck is actually looking like a very solid and possibly competitive draft archetype this time around.

There are six cards previously to reference monocolored:
Awe for the Guilds
Defiler of Souls
Govern the Guildless
Guardian of the Guildpact
Sultai Charm
and
Ultimate Price

The only way the errata and its reversion is relevant would be Muraganta Petroglyphs who once again will not be able to affect Courier.
