Flavor text guess: Azorius’s Sphinx are only loyal to the law itself, not the leader of the guild, even they are stand together.

It doesn’t give a source but it seems legit.

Hard to justify giving Dimir Nightveil Predator then turning around to give Azorious this...thing.
Could have at least given it 4 toughness to allow it to survive Lightning Strike/Block Chainwhirler

What overwhelming meh.

I was expecting an Unsummon on a stick or at least a flying lifelinker with above average stats.

Boring but effective.
I like the Simic neo-Mystic Snake a bit better than this slippery Serra Angel.

I like using this ability over hexproof. Solid limited card.

Flavor text is: Azorius Sphinxes are only loyal to the law itself, not the leader of the guild, even they are of the same race.

Meaning Isperia's death, with or without Dovin's involvement, does not affect other sphinx members of the guild.

It's only one more point of power, but it does make a difference. If your opponent is at 20 life, this sphinx is a five-turn clock; Nightveil Predator is a seven-turn one. And this card has no "down time" after attack. It might feel a bit underwhelming, but design-wise, I like it better. And it's still a powerful card in Limited.

Anyone remember the days when a 4/3 flying, vigilance, pseudo-hexproof for 4 mana wasn't ridiculed for being too weak/plain/boring/underpowered? At uncommon, even.

In original Ravnica we got Moroii and it was pretty bomby.

The classic 4/4 flying Air Elemental is always good in Limited, across all Limited sets ever.

Card is still very odd, as its so similar to the hexproof one and it seems to be so out of place for the Azorius Guild as a generic flyer.

This is kind of sad seeing next to totally not mystic snake....

4 an uncommon is has plenty powa. Can't comprehend yall complaints.
So far the weakest in this cycle to me is the Orzhov-one.

The Orzhov one is actually pretty decent. Big butt to take damage, gains life to stabilize, and eats a card in hand, making it at bare minimum, a 1 for 1 card, if not 2 for 1. Oh and Orzhov has some ofthe best creature removal, so anything it cant block on the ground, you can blow out of the sky.

Is it just me or is the English card missing a space left of the 2 in the ability? Maybe it's just that I can't find a larger version of the card, but the spacing looks weird to me.

There are not many decent removal spells in GRN/RNA Limited. Justice Strike? Lava Coil? Response? Assassin's Trophy, presuming you pull one? Severed Strands if you don't mind the sacrifice and speed? You, the opponent, are simply going to have to spend at least 4 or 5 mana to get rid of this thing or have a 3/x in the air.

Let's just say that Kraul Harpooner has suddenly become a lot better.

GRN/RNA limited? They don't ever get drafted together, right? We're in the new-world of "everything drafted by itself" now, correct?

Great for limited in making removal more expensive to deal with it. I personally like it.

I don't get the comparisons to Nightveil Predator. They're both first pickable bombs in differed limited formats, and, since Nightveil sees no substantive constructed play, there's no point in comparing them head-to-head for constructed, either. The sphinx might even have a chance of seeing standard play if an Azorius fliers deck built around the new Dovin ever takes off.

*shrug* Heck if I know. If Draft is RNA/RNA/RNA then that just makes this creature even better because we won't even have Lava Coil.

The only official draft format supported right now is 3-of-a-kind.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of stores ran unofficial Rav3.3/RNA/GRN events in the spring though.

Honestly, I don't think this is too bad. 4 power vigilance with pseudo hexproof on a flyer ain't bad at all. I've thought for a long time that abilities like this should replace hexproof altogether, by the way, more interactivity is usually good and this ability offers protection without being untouchable.

If this just had 1 more toughness, though, it would be pretty great.

This can still be countered without the tax? The ability only works once the creature resolves?

I can see this card being a royal PITA with the BW control decks people keep trying out.

Correct, the ability only matters while it is on the battlefield. You can counter it at cost.
